WILL JESUS COME IN 2000?

Many Christians believed the second advent of Jesus was to take place or we would be raptured, in 2000. Oh Lord Jesus, deliver us from this trying world! No more aches and pains, no more bills to pay, no more.....well, it would be wonderful to see Jesus - but it was not based on scripture. So why get hung up on 2000?

WHY WAS IT MANY BELIEVED 2000 WAS THE YEAR?

I realise there are roughly 2000 years between creation and Abraham, then 2000 years until Jesus and 2000 years to the Sabbath millennial reign. If creation took place in 4000 BC and everyone knows that 4000 and 2000 make 6000 then 2000 AD is the big year. Really its not that simple. THERE IS NOTHING IN BIBLE CHRONOLOGY TO SUGGEST JESUS WOULD HAVE COME IN 2000 AD.  Many Christians were disappointed when December 31st, 2000 came. Look, I'm not saying Jesus won't come or we won't be raptured - I believe with all my heart that these things will happen and soon but 2000 was just another year.

WHY STUDY BIBLE CHRONOLOGY?

It gives a more sure revelation of our Heavenly Father and an understanding of His judgement and forgiveness. We can take the Bible literally because it really does all add up. Bible chronology also helps us to understand long and short term prophecies, fulfilled and yet to be fulfilled. There is not a single wasted number in the Bible!

You will see key dates, such as the birth of Jesus Christ, the days and dates of His crucification and resurrection. You will see there are no contradictions in the Bible - they're just God's fingerprints. You will gain a better understanding of historical and current events and see God's hand in them. To recognise the signs of the times we live in, in relation to the second advent of Jesus.

ASSUMPTIONS.

I assume you are not an evolutionist. If you are, do not read this because it will make no sense to you. Instead I refer you to my studies: "Evolution or Creation" and "The Science of Creation", showing that science proves evolution cannot possibly have taken place. They show this crackpot theory is just atheistic propaganda dressed up as science - that it is peddled by those who prefer not to believe in Jesus, thus allowing them to sin without accountability (they suppose).  Click here to go to this study on creation v evolution.

There are other theories such as the "Gap Theory": That God created the earth in Genesis 1:1, then there was a judgment and the earth became formless and empty for millions of years! This is a theory formulated by Church of Scotland theologian Thomas Chalmers (1780-1847) in response to evolutionary thought. 

Nor was a creation day a 1000 years either: The fruit trees created on the 3000th "day" would have not survived until the bees were created on the 6000th "day"!

Beware of these theories; if there was death before Adam - there's no need for Jesus!

BASIC PRINCIPLES:

God really did create the heavens and the earth in the beginning, but when was the beginning? Have you ever tried to add up all the ages of men in your Bible and tried to determine when these major events took place? I tried once and got a long way but I was shooting from the hip. My chronology had no structure. It was like God creating Adam without bones - Adam would not have been able to stand up and neither did my chronology when tested. Chronology has to have a structure.

THE LAW OF CAUSE AND EFFECT:

To understand Bible chronology properly one has to understand some basic laws of science. God functions according to His own laws. The Law of Cause and Effect states that every effect must have a cause and the effect cannot be greater than the cause. Although this law applies to everything, we're only concerned with time here. God created time - He was the First Cause of time. Therefore time can't be greater than God - agreed? This means that time doesn't rule God but God rules time. We'll come back to this shortly.

THE FIRST LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS:

This states that matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed. Energy can be converted from one kind to another but this doesn't result in any gain or loss; for example electrical energy into heat and light. Even with converting into energy by means of nuclear reaction and using energy to create matter there is no fixed equivalence between them and the sum total of matter and energy can't be changed. We can see that the Law of Cause and Effect follows on from the First Law of Thermodynamics.

TIME AND THE ORIGIN OF THE UNIVERSE:

If we apply these two laws to time and the origin of the universe we can see that since matter and energy can't be created or destroyed then it follows that there is nothing within the universe capable of bringing it into being - agreed? In other words God must be outside and greater than the universe. According to the Law of Cause and Effect, as God created space He must be omnipresent in space because He is greater than the space He has created. HE IS INFINITE! This is why He can be present in each believer and yet in heavenly places all at the same time.

He is also greater than the time He has created too. He is omnipresent in time. This is how He is eternal because He is outside of our time. He has no origin. May I suggest you pray about that. Ask God to reveal this to you and He will. Because He is outside of our time which He has created He has always existed in relation to us. Can you see that? He governs time - He controls it - He can cancel it - bend it - stretch it - speed it up - slow it down - and that, as you'll see, is exactly what He does do!

THE SPEED OF LIGHT:

An understanding of the speed of light is important to my thesis[1]. Just over 6000 years ago God spoke light into existence and it was instant. It did not travel as slowly as today's value of 186,000 miles per second. Since then it has been slowing down to today's value.

THE EFFECTS OF INSTANTANEOUS LIGHT 6000 YEARS AGO AND DECREASING TO THE PRESENT 186,000 MILES PER SECOND:

It will shorten to a fraction of time the atomic time scale e.g., what evolutionists claimed happened 18,000,000,000 years ago actually happened 6000 years ago. What they claim happened between 60,000 and 250,000 years ago actually happened only in 2000 BC or 3000 BC. For example what killed the dinosaurs was the flood in 2470 BC, not by a meteorite around 60,000,000 years ago!

RADIOMETRIC DATING AND FAIRYLAND:

This will also reduce to a fraction the radiometric ages of rocks from millions to just thousands of years. This is because radioactive disintegration rates are linked to the speed of light - things decay much faster as the speed of light increases. Rocks that appear to be hundreds of millions of years old are in fact only thousands of years old. The whole of radiometric dating is based on the assumption that decay is constant - but if it is not because of the instantaneous speed of light then the whole foundation of dating crumbles!

The distance the light travels from those far away majestic galaxieswouldn't take millions but only thousands of years to reach us. Evolutionists claim the universe is millions of years old because at 186,000 miles per second the light from these distant galaxies would have taken all that time to reach us! Once we see that the speed of light has slowed down from being instantaneous, we can also appreciate that light would cover vast distances instantly.

Couple all this with God creating things with a built in age; i.e., we know He created at least two mature trees, the animals and Adam and Eve themselves all with built in maturity, it follows He would have done the same with the earth.

YOU CAN SEE - TIME IS NOT QUITE ALL IT SEEMS TO BE. YOU CAN BE SURE THOSE MILLIONS OF YEARS IN THE FAIRYLAND WORLD OF THE ATHEISTS SIMPLY DO NOT EXIST!

A DAY IS AS A THOUSAND YEARS?

2 Peter 3:8 says: "With the Lord a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a day."

Although this is referring to chronology, it is not referring to creation. God took six days to create the earth[2]. On the seventh day He rested. In Bible chronological terms God will labour with us 6,000 years but in the seventh thousand year period referred to in Revelation chapter 20, known as the "Millenium"[3], He will rest when Jesus will rule the earth.

However, I acknowledge that in God's time the first 2,000 years from creation to Abraham was the age of the Gentiles, the second 2,000 years was the age of the Jews until the first advent of Jesus, the third 2,000 years was the age of the church until the second advent of Jesus. This will be followed by the "Millennium".

Let us see why it is not that simple. Let us look at the difference in God's time and ours.
 
 

THE JUBILEE CYCLE:

It would be impossible to understand Bible chronology without a full understanding of Leviticus chapter 25 and Sir Edward Denny's work on this published in 1818.

God's modus operandi is to work six days and rest on the seventh[4]. He desires this for us and for the earth. God will provide during the seventh year - the Sabbath year, read verses 1 to 7. Having the Sabbath year every seven years is clearly commanded by God. Later in this study you will see that He has His way too! The rhythm is always; 1 2 3 4 5 6 Sabbath 8 9 10 11 12 13 Sabbath and so on...

Now see what God is saying here from verse 8: "Count off seven Sabbaths, seven times seven years - so that the seven Sabbaths of years amount to a period of forty nine years. Then have the trumpet sounded everywhere on the tenth day of the seventh month, on the day of Atonement sound the trumpet throughout your land. Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty.....the fiftieth year shall be a jubilee for you..."

Here we can see the principle that a day is like a year and is like a thousand years. Not only is God saying they should work six days and rest on the seventh but that they should work for six years and let the land have it's Sabbath rest on the seventh! Or if you like; work 6,000 years and rest during the 7,000 years.

However, we are really concerned here with years and the Jubilee Cycle. "Count off 7 Sabbaths..." In other words 7 years; 1 2 3 4 5 6 Sabbath. "...so that the 7 Sabbaths of years amount to a period of 49 years." Here we can see the complete Jubilee cycle as follows:

Then on the 50th year there is a special Sabbath; the Jubilee Year. "Jubilee" in Hebrew means; "to release." Verse 10 tells us it is a time of freedom. Property is returned to it's original owner whether it be given away or sold (i.e., there would be no landed gentry in the promised land - maybe God is a socialist after all!). Prisoners are set free whether they have been there 49 years or just 1. This is the message of the Jubilee; our redemption whether we have been a Christian 49 years or just 1 it makes no difference, we are still saved.

THE JUBILEE YEAR IS NOT A YEAR IN OUR TIME - ONLY IN GOD'S TIME.

This, as far a Bible chronology is concerned, is the most important message of the Jubilee year. Verse 9 says; "Then have the trumpet sounded everywhere on the tenth day of the seventh month, on the Day of Atonement..." Don't forget we are still in the 49th year. The seventh month is "Tishri" and is just over half way through the 49th year! As the Jubilee year lasts one year it will end on the 9th day of Tishri, half way through the next year, which would be the first year of the next Jubilee cycle.

If you are still with me you will be able to see Sir Edward Denny's argument. The years were numbered ....47, 48, 49, 1, 2, 3, 4.... not ....47, 48, 49, 50, 1, 2, 3, 4.... The year 50, the Jubilee year, did not exist in mankind's time at all. It only exists in God's time!

To us the Jubilee Cycle is 49 years in time whereas to God it is 50 years:

50 years in God's time = 49 years + 1 Jubilee year in ours.

500 years in God's time = 490 years + 10 Jubilee years in our.

1000 years in God's time = 980 years + 20 Jubilee years in ours.

2000 years in God's time = 1960 years + 40 Jubilee years in ours.

As you can see from Creation to Abraham it is 2000 of God's years but only 1960 of man's years plus 40 Jubilee years. Abraham to the Cross is 2000 of God's years but only 1960 of man's years plus 40 Jubilee years. From the Cross to the 2nd Advent of Jesus is 2000 of God's years but only 1960 of man's years plus 40 Jubilee years. Up until the Millennium this represents 6000 years of God's time but only 5880 years of our time or 6000 less 120 Jubilee years. This is very important in Bible chronology.
 
 

JUDGMENT YEARS:

Another crucial aid to understanding Bible chronology is taking into account God's years of judgement on His people. We are still indebted to Sir Edward Denny for his exposure of many of these periods. Things get a little more complicated here but a prayerful stage by stage study will reveal what I am trying to communicate. These are the secret things of God.

We are going to discover here that the years spoken of in the Bible are forgiveness years - years in which God's people are in full fellowship with Him. Denny discovered that when God judges His people we are out of fellowship with Him and God does not count these years so they are not counted in Bible chronology either. Twenty or thirty years ago I used to say we should be careful of all the numbers in the Bible as they did not all add up. How wrong I was. I was just showing my ignorance of the Bible.

Our Father in Heaven is really showing us His forgiveness and mercy by revealing this secret of His. The years His people have done wrong, he forgives and wipes out His memory of the sin. He counts it as if it had never happened.

This is the message of the JUDGMENT YEARS - that God remembers our sins no more, He even cancels the time during which the sin takes place BUT we have to live with the consequence of our sin even so.

Back to Bible chronology: Let us look at an example of this. On the surface there seems to be a contradiction here between 1 Kings 6:1 and Acts 13:20. This concerns the period between Exodus and the dedication of Solomon's Temple:

1 Kings 6:1 says;

"In the four hundred and eightieth year after the Israelites had come out of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, the second month, he began to build the temple of the Lord."

At first when we compare Acts 13 it seems to disagree. This is further complicated by the various Bible versions disagreeing with each other.

Acts 13:17-20 (NIV) says;

"....He led them out of that country (Egypt), he endured their conduct for about forty years in the desert, he overthrew seven nations Canaan and gave their land to his people....All this took about four hundred and fifty years. After this God gave them judges until the time of Samuel the prophet."

Please note this 450 years includes the 40 years in the desert; ("All this took about 450 years...").

Acts 13:17-20 (Living Bible) says;

"....By leading them gloriously out of their slavery. And he nursed them through forty years of wandering around in the wilderness. Then he destroyed seven nations in Canaan, and gave Israel their land as an inheritance. Judges ruled for 450 years and were followed by Samuel the prophet." In other words from Exodus to Samuel was 450 years.

The RSV says:

"....For about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness. After he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance for about four hundred and fifty years. After that he gave them Judges until the time of ....Samuel."

My Greek interlinear text[5] for this same scripture says:

"....He led forth them out of it, and about forty years time he endured them in the desert and having destroyed nations seven in land Canaan gave as an inheritance the land of them about years four hundred and fifty. And after these things he gave judges until Samuel the prophet."

The King James Bible renders the same passage:

"....He brought them out of it. And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness. And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he divided their land to them by lot. And after that he gave (unto them) judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet."

Please note that the "after that" in the RSV and "after these things" in the Greek interlinear refer to after the wanderings and the 7 nations were destroyed in Numbers 10:11-13, Joshua 14:6-10 and Acts 7:36 ceased. This is confirmed by the King James and Living Bibles' interpretation. The NIV can be seen to be not quite correct here whereas the King James is; after the 40 years and the defeat of the Canaanites God gave them 450 years in the land.

We now have 1 Kings 6:1 saying it is 480 years and Acts 13:19 saying 450 years! Which is correct? Both of them! Yet it is neither! You will see 490 is correct. If this isn't confusing enough the calendar years are 621, 131 years more. (I told you it became more complicated!)

You can see why Sir Edward Denny is reputed to have sweated over this and when he found the answer, as we are about to do, he was ridiculed for it. There is a Chinese proverb which says: "Thinking is so very difficult, most people prefer to make judgments instead." Often Christians are too ready to judge before thinking. He was disbelieved by his Brethren brothers but it is clear from his writings that he knew God had revealed something wonderful to him - the extent of his forgiveness towards His people. God had revealed that when He forgives He literally forgets. God had revealed the difference between FORGIVENESS and JUDGMENT years.

I am going to demonstrate[6] that during this period of 621 years, God only counted 490 of them! These were the years the Jews were in fellowship with God. The other 131 years they were out of fellowship with Him - the JUDGMENT years.

To enable us to fully understand this principle we are going to look in detail at the period from Exodus down to the dedication of Solomon's temple in his 14th year. 1 Kings 6:1 of 480 years. 1 Kings 6:38 and 1 Kings 7:13-51 of 10 years from the 4th year of Solomon to his 14th year and the dedication of the temple, compared with Acts 13:19 and 7:36.

Check these figures and references for yourself - don't take my word for it. You can see that although 621 years are mentioned in the Bible within this period, when analysed it can be seen clearly that God was punishing the Israelites for their sinful living for a total of 131 years by putting them under the control of a foreign power. However, the time they were in full fellowship with the Lord was 490 years - years of forgiveness, (the 480 years of 1 Kings 6:1 plus 10 years Temple building and furnishing).

THE BIBLE IS CORRECT AFTER ALL!

1 Kings 6:1 says the period was 480 years to the 4th year of Solomon but as we can see the Temple dedication was in the14th year of his reign. If we add 10 this gives us 490 years. Acts 13:19 refers to 450 calendar years between God giving them their land as an inheritance [from{ above] until the start of Samuel the prophet [to { above]. Please note not the book of Samuel but the start of his administration. Add on 40 years in the wilderness and the total of 490 years is the same as that in 1 Kings 6:1.

The is no discrepancy between these scriptures at all - THE BIBLE IS CORRECT!

TEST EVERYTHING (1 Thessalonians 5:21 and 1 John 4:1).

We Christians should test things more than we do. There is so much deception around. We can apply one or two tests now to see if the Lord will confirm what you have read so far to see if it be true or false.

490 YEARS OF FORGIVENESS TEST:

Peter came to Jesus and asked Him; "How oft shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? 'Till seven times?"

Jesus replied; "I say not unto thee until seven times but until seventy times seven." In other words not 7 times but 490 times (7x70). Here we can see that the number for forgiveness in Bible numerology is 490 which helps to confirm our study. You will see the whole of Biblical history is based on multiples of 490 or to put it another way, based on forgiveness.

INCIDENTALLY; we can test the various Bible translations for accuracy with this. The NIV says 77 times but says in a codicil; "Or seventy times seven". The RSV does exactly the same yet the Novum Testamentum Graece from which both versions are taken, clearly says; "Seventy times seven." Clearly the NIV and RSV are wrong and they would have us loose a wonderful truth here.

JUBILEE YEARS TEST:

Genesis 28:20-22 tells us that Jacob, who was renamed Israel of course, negotiated with God. He said if God would give him certain things, then he, Israel, would give God one tenth of all the years God gave to Israel's seed as a nation. What did Jacob mean? Is it referring to tithing? There are those who think so but it refers to years not money. This has puzzled many people. Genesis 47:28 tells us Jacob lived 147 years (easily attainable at that time so soon after the flood).

The answer lies in the Jubilee years! As we have seen on page 9 it was 1500 of God's years from Exodus to the Cross. This included 30 Jubilee years so in our time the age of the Jews lasted 1470 years (490x3). The Jews began their period as a nation at the Exodus out of Egypt and ended at the Cross when the age of the Church began. These 1470 years were given to the seed of Israel as a nation when they were free. Jacob did indeed give to God one tenth of all the years God gave to Israel's seed as a nation, exactly 147 years!

SABBATH YEAR TEST:

The Jews were taken into Babylonian captivity 3,430 of man's years after the creation of the world - this was 3,500 of God's years. The Lord said through Jeremiah 29:10; "When seventy years are complete for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfil my gracious promise to bring you back to this place (Israel)." 2 Chronicles 36:21 says; "The land enjoyed it's Sabbath rests, all the time of it's desolation it rested, until the seventy years were completed in fulfilment of the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah."

Have you ever wondered why the Jews were in captivity 70 years?It was because the land had not had it's Jubilee Sabbath rests as the Lord had commanded (Lev 25:1-5). This is the difference between the Lord's years of 3,500 and man's years of 3,430. We think we are getting away with things but we're not. Beware, the Lord will have His way! These 70 years captivity were inevitable.

These "years" are not our years, we will come to that later. Abraham to the Cross is 2176 years. This is made up of 1960 years which is 2000 less 40 Jubilee years, or if you like; 4 x 490 years plus the above 216 years out of fellowship (15 + 131 + 70) = 2176 years.

CHART TO ILLUSTRATE YEARS FROM ABRAHAM TO EXODUS.

The period of time between the death of Joseph and the birth of Moses is not specified in the Bible. It can be calculated by subtracting the years we know which are 440 from the total of 505.

Now we see here that the time from the birth of Abraham to the Exodus seems to be 505 years - but is it? No, it is 490 years:

EXPLANATION OF ABRAHAM'S 15 YEARS OUT OF FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD.

Genesis 12:4 says Abraham (Abram) was 75 years old when he set out from Haran so 75 years earlier when he was born is the beginning of our chart.

Genesis 16:1-4 says after Abraham had been living in Canaan 10 years his wife Sarah gave him her maidservant Hagar and she conceived. This was Sarah's "good idea". Beware of good ideas and wait for God. She thought she was too old but nothing is impossible to God. Abraham lost faith in God and acted in the flesh and Ishmael was born. From the conception of Ishmael to the birth of Isaac (Gen 21:5) was 15 years, Abraham was then 100 years old. During this 15 years Abraham was out of fellowship with the Lord. The rest of the chart is simple arithmetic. We can see that we have another period of 490 years (505 - 15 = 490).

WHY BE OUT OF FELLOWSHIP 15 YEARS?

I'm only going to answer this question in part now otherwise it may become too confusing, but I will answer the rest later on.

I have mentioned before the Biblical principle of a year for a day. For reasons I will explain later, the years used in the Bible at this time were Babylonian years of 360 days. A year for a day: 1 x 24th of a day is 1 hour. 1 x 24th of a Babylonian year of 360 days is 15 days.

Numbers 14:34 says: "For forty years - one year for each of the forty days you explored the land." 13:25 says: "At the end of the forty days they returned from exploring the land." This is God's principle - a year for a day.

Back to the Babylonian year of 360 days: 1 x 24th of 360 days is 15 days. A year for a day makes 15 years.

Clearly the sin of Abraham conceiving Ishmael with a woman other than his wife was abhorrent to God and with which He could not associate Himself. Why an hour or it's equivalent of 15 years out of fellowship? I believe God has symbolic times for certain things. The sex act has a symbolic time of an hour (from the twinkle in my father's eye...as the saying goes).

Abraham conceived a child by Hagar and was consequently out of fellowship with God for this 15 years. He had sinned and tried to do in the flesh what God was going to do as a miracle so He made him wait 15 years.
 

SUMMARY OF THE STUDY SO FAR:

For Bible chronology we need a structure.

Understanding some basic laws of science helps us understand God better. God created time and therefore He is superior to time - He is eternal. He sees the end from the beginning, He sees the whole happening all at once. Because of this He has no origin - He has always existed in relation to time. Because He is superior to time He controls it, bends it, slows it, speeds it up and He does all these things.

The speed of light has slowed down since God said; "Let there be light." Then light was instantaneous. The effect of this is to cancel out those supposed millions of years of the evolutionists. THAT TIME NEVER EXISTED.

BASIC PRINCIPLE:

1 day = 1000 years.

Creation of 6 literal days then rest.

6000 years of man's history then 1000 years rest.

Every 50 years...47,48,49,1,2,3... The 50th year is not a year in time but begins half way through the 49th year and ends half way through the 1st year of the next cycle. Every 50 of God's years is 49 of man's years. Every 500 of God's is 490 of man's. Every 2000 of God's is 1960 of man's.

JUDGMENT AND FORGIVENESS YEARS:

490 years is how many times Jesus told Peter to forgive another. All the major periods in the Bible (and man's history) are in multiples of 490 years. There are times when individuals and Israel (and modern day countries incidentally) can be out of fellowship with God and He does not count those periods against us - He literally cancels them.

How wonderful to know that God cancels our debts - He does not remember them.

THE 430 YEAR MYSTERY:

EXODUS 12:40-41, GALATIONS 3:16-17, ACTS 7:6 AND GENESIS 15:13:

Galations 3:16-17 says; "The promises were spoken to Abraham and his seed...What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later..." In other words it is 430 years between Abraham entering Canaan to Exodus.

Exodus 12:40-41, the NIV Masoretic[7] Text says; "Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt and Canaan was 430 years. At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the Lord's divisions left Egypt." Most of the other versions just say the time was 430 years in Egypt but the Samaritan Pentateuch and Septuagent[8] say Egypt and Canaan.

We can test this to see which is right: On page 15 we can add up the years from when Abraham enters Canaan to the Exodus: 10 + 15 + 60 + 90 + 110 + 65 + 40 + 40 = 430 years. On this occasion Abraham's years out of fellowship are included and that the NIV Masoretic text is correct.

Acts 7:6 is not quite so straight forward; "Your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and ill-treated for four hundred years." (NIV). Firstly; "...Strangers in a country..." refers to Egypt but as we have seen above, this probably refers to Canaan as well. This is also in two parts more easily discerned in the King James version; "...His seed should sojourn in a strange land..." (first part), "...and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat (them) evil four hundred years." They firstly stayed (sojourned) in Egypt then later they were brought into bondage and then they were ill-treated. Secondly, the 400 years stated here is the Greek word; "tetrakosioi" which can also be translated "430"!! It is the same word used in Galations 3:7 although that has the context of "kai" and "triakonta".

Genesis 15:13 says; "Thy seed shall be a stranger in a land not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years." There are four statements here:

1. Strangers in a land not theirs.

2. Hebrews shall serve the Egyptians.

3. Egyptians shall afflict Hebrews.

4. 400 years.

With number 1 their is no problem. They were certainly in a land not theirs for some of this time both as popular guests whilst Joseph was Vizier[9] and then as slaves. With number 2 Joseph and later the slaves served the Egyptians. Number 3 the Egyptians turned the Hebrews into slaves and afflicted them greatly. Finally, number 4 says 400 years which we have seen is an ambiguous figure but to which period does it refer? Is it that they were afflicted 400 years, in which case this is about 4 times what the afore mentioned evidence says, or is it referring to the much longer period already analysed? I believe it to be the latter but perhaps we will never know for certain.

YOU WILL SEE ALL THIS CONFIRMED LATER AS WE TEST THE CHRONOLOGY.

WHAT IS A YEAR?

CHRONOLOGY is, of course, the science of reckoning time by regular divisions or periods and is closely related to calendar[10] development. This can be complicated and Bible chronology, by it's very nature involves primitive calendar systems in use from, so called, "pre- historic" times and from many parts of the world up to the present day.

Daniel 7:25 talks about ; "A time, times and a half time," for example. There is no doubt that most scholars will tell you this amounts to 3.5 years but this is too simplistic. To what type of year is he referring?

WHAT IS A YEAR? This sounds the simplest of questions to answer but this is not the case. There are many variables to take into account. There are two main types of years: The Solar Year and the Lunar Year.

THE SOLAR YEAR:

This is the time it takes the earth to go around the sun exactly. It is most important we are exact for Bible chronology.

THE TRUE SOLAR YEAR is 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 46 seconds. This is 1 minute, 14 seconds less than 365.25 days we use for convenience (365 days plus every 4th year a leap year of an extra day making 366 days).

THE ASSYRIAN[11] SOLAR YEAR they guessed at 360 days.

THE EGYPTIAN YEAR was only 360 days too but they had only 10 hours in a day - 100 minutes in an hour and 100 seconds in a minute (original metrication!). It is necessary to take this into account when working out Egyptian chronology. To further complicate things the Egyptians had an idea their calendar became progressively out because of the flood of the Nile so they made adjustments on an ad-lib basis. Each year they lost 5.5 days - not too noticeable but after 10 years is a different matter. They would find they were planting crops too early which would fail and mean starvation so they just added on a few days here and there after a few years!

Other calendars included Chinese, Hindu, Greek, Muslim, Mayan, Aztecs, Zapotecs and many others.

Some of our ancestors were amazingly clever. Stonehenge is accurate. It is like a computer but they did not have the technology, that's all. The people who built Stonehenge were far from primitive. It is there to work out the position of the sun, moon and stars. You will see from our chronology Stonehenge was built about 350 BC.

JULIAN CALENDAR:

It was none other than Julius Caesar who "invented" our present day calendar in 45 BC. The Julian Calendar is the reformed Roman Republican Calendar. Elaborate and ingenious though it was, it became hopelessly confused by the first century BC because of failures of the priests to spot the new moon. There was also a great deal of politically motivated interference. The office of a magistrate could also be extended by manipulating the calendar, for example.

The Julian Calendar had become seriously out of step with the seasons by three lunations with obvious seasonal results. In 46 BC he intercalated 67 days to the year between November and December making that year 445 days in length.

From January 1st, 45 BC the new Julian Calendar began with it's new moon and 4 year cycle. However, even that is not straight forward. He ordered the odd numbered months starting with January to contain 31 days and the others 30 days with February alone to have 29 days and 30 every 4th year. This was later adjusted by Emperor Augustus in 7 BC.

July of course, is named after Julius Caeser and August after Augustus Caeser.

However, as we have seen, the true length of the year measured from equinox to equinox is nearly 365.2422 days. The Julian year is therefore 0.0078 days too long (or if you prefer; a little over 11 minutes, 15 seconds). Not a lot, I hear you cry but this amounts to I day every 128 years. This meant our calendar was slipping forward slightly.

GREGORIAN CALENDAR:

Pope Gregory XIII, or rather his experts Aloysius Lilius and Christopher Clavius[12] made some further calculations. They had noted that the Venerable Bede had claimed by 730 AD that the vernal equinox had advanced 3 days since the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. This was recorded as having increased to just over 7 days by the 13th century and 9 days by the 15th century. By the time this reformation had taken place the displacement of the beginning of the year had increased to a fraction under 10 days (9.8203125).

Gregory ordered that from that year October 5th should be reckoned as the October 15th, 1582. The Roman Catholic states adopted this new style calendar and the next vernal equinox fell correctly on March 21st and not the 11th. However, they had miscalculated to 325 AD and not 45 BC so as if this is not complicated enough, our calendar is still 2 days ahead (i.e., the 14th is really the 12th). This has to be allowed for in any calculations.

As is typical of we British, we did not correct our calendar until 1752 and by that time we had lost 11 days and September 2nd was followed by September 14th, 1752.

LUNAR YEAR:

A LUNATION is the time it takes the Moon to go once around the earth; 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 2.8 seconds. The moon is inclined to wobble so this time can vary a little.

The TRUE LUNAR YEAR is 12 lunations = 354 days, 8 hours, 48 minutes and 33.6 seconds.

The CIVIL LUNAR YEAR is 354 days. This is the year God uses in the Bible. For example when we have talked about 490 years we are talking about 490 x 354 days. This is 11.25 days shorter than the SOLAR YEAR so they intercalated (see below)..

WHY DOES GOD USE CIVIL LUNAR YEARS WHEN CLEARLY IT IS TOO SHORT?

There is much evidence to show the earth's obit and rotation have changed at the Noanian Flood when the earth experienced tremendous upheaval and stresses. There is evidence to show a solar year was exactly 354 days when it was created up until the Flood.

The JEWISH LUNAR YEAR has 12 months as follows:

1. Abib (later called Nisan)......................................30 days

INTERCALATION: Each year they became 11.25 days earlier so that after 3 years they would be a month early. To keep the calendar in line with the sun after the Noahian Flood an extra month was added every 2 or 3 years. Compared to our own year, when the 1st Nisan fell on March 29th or earlier an extra month known as Ve-Adar was added making the 1st Nisan fall in our April. This took place in the 3rd, 6th, 9th, 11th, 14th, 17th and 19th years at the end of which the sun would be just 2 hours out. This is INTERCALATION.

The effect of the 19 years intercalation cycle on the civil lunar year means at the end of year 1 = 11 days behind. 2 = 22, 3 = 33, so add on 30 days Ve-Adar, now 3 days behind. Year 4 = 11 + 3 = 14 days behind. Year 5 = 11 + 14 = 25. Year 6 = 25 + 11 = 36 behind so add 30 days Ve-Adar, now 6 days behind. Year 7 = 11 + 6 = 17. Year 8 = 11 + 17 = 28. Year 9 = 28 + 11 = 39 days so add on 30 days Ve-Adar, now 9 days behind. Year 10 = 11 + 9 = 20. Year 11 = 20 + 11 so add 30 days Ve-Adar, now 1 day behind. Year 12 = 11 + 1 = 12. Year 13 = 11 + 12 = 23. Year 14 = 11 + 23 = 34 so add 30 days Ve-Adar = 4 days behind. Year 15 = 11 + 4 = 15. Year 16 = 11 + 15 = 26. Year 17 = 11 + 26 = 37 days behind so add 30 days Ve-Adar, now 7 days behind. Year 18 = 11 + 7 = 18. Year 19 = 11 + 18 = 29 days behind so add 30 days Ve-Adar.

LUNI SOLAR YEAR: Once the intercalation cycle is applied to the Civil Lunar Year it is known as the Luni Solar Year.

CORRECTION BETWEEN THE TRUE SOLAR YEAR AND THE LUNI SOLAR YEAR:

The length of 19 True Solar Years is arrived at by multiplying 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 46 seconds by 19 which equals 6939 days, 14 hours, 26 minutes and 34 seconds. The length of 19 Luni Solar Years which is 228 lunations (19 x 12) plus 7 intercalations = 235 lunations in total, is arrived at by multiplying 235 by the length of a lunation, which is 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 2.8 seconds. The answer is 6939 days, 16 hours, 30 minutes and 58 seconds. Therefore 19 True Luni Solar Years minus 19 True Solar Years equals 2 hours, 4 minutes, 24 seconds.

THE 1960 YEAR PERIOD:

We can begin to see the reason for all this mind bending. You will remember earlier the 2000 year period less 40 Jubilee years amounted to 1960 years. What type of years are these? CIVIL LUNAR YEARS of 354 days of course! How does this relate to our years?

1960 years of 354 days = 693840 days divided by a True Solar Year of 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, 46 seconds = 1899 Solar Years, 245 days which is 120 days short of 1900 years. It is important to bear in mind that the True Solar Years are our years.

AT LAST WE HAVE ARRIVED AT A FIGURE WHICH IS GOING TO MAKE SOME SENSE!

CREATION.

Then 1899 Solar Years, 245 days.

BIRTH OF ABRAHAM.

Then 1899 Solar Years, 245 days.

CROSS.

SECOND ADVENT OF JESUS.

So now we know exactly when Jesus will come for us! I'm afraid not - it's still not that simple. This isn't the purpose of the exercise anyway. There are those years out of fellowship to deduct which are not our years in the main, although some are.

SUMMARY OF THE "YEAR":[13]

Years mentioned in the Bible are not all the same length.

SOLAR YEAR IS APPROXIMATELY 365.25 DAYS.

ASSYRIAN, EGYPTIAN AND BABYLONIAN YEARS ARE 360 DAYS.

TRUE LUNAR YEAR IS 354 DAYS, 8 HOURS, 48 MINUTES, 33.6 SECONDS.

CIVIL LUNAR YEAR IS 354 DAYS (MAINLY YEARS IN BIBLE).

JEWISH LUNAR YEAR IS 360 DAYS PLUS INTERCALATION CYCLE.

THE YEARS IN THE BIBLE AMOUNT TO 1899 OF OUR YEARS PLUS 245 DAYS.
 

MAKING A START WITH DATES:

TIBERIUS CAESAR:

This tyrant can still help us with our dates even so long after his death in 37 AD! Some people expect to arrive at a date quickly and easily but it can be complicated. We will try and apply some of the principles we have learned. Bible chronology is closely linked to world chronology of course. Some dates in history are certain and the Bible can be anchored to these. One such date is connected to Tiberius Caesar.

Luke 3:23 tells us Jesus was 30 years old when He began His ministry. Luke 3:1 says this was in the 15th year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar (or to be accurate Tiberius Claudius Nero 42 BC to 37 AD). When did Tiberius become Emperor? In 14 AD. This is an undisputed date and I invite you to explore this for yourself. I list below some of the authorities for you to explore but all lead to the same conclusion; no one doubts Tiberius became Emperor in 14 AD. Therefore the 15th year of Tiberius would have been 29 AD. As Jesus was 30 this means He was born in 1 BC - agreed?

Tacticus, believed to have been a contemporary Senator.

Suctonius, Tiberius' biographer.

Velleius Paterculous, an officer who had served under Tiberius.

Charles Merivale; "History of the Romans under the Empire".

HEROD THE GREAT:

This tyrant was born around 73 BC but this is by no means certain. He became King of Judea around 40 BC. "Herod" was the name borne by the princes of a dynasty which reigned in Judea from as early as 40 BC. The Jewish historian Josephus says he died in 4 BC. Other historians say this too, such as Schurer, but their source is thought to be Josephus!

Herod Antipas, son of Herod the Great, received as his share of his father's kingdom, Galilee and Perea with the title of Tetrarch. Josephus says he reigned from 4 BC to 39 AD. This is the "Herod" mentioned in the gospels and is referred to by Jesus as the "fox". He was also the "Herod" to whom Pilate sent Jesus to be tried. Herod the Great had executed his eldest son, Antipater so his son Archelaus became ruler of Judea in 4 BC.

However, this date of 4 BC cannot be verified yet many believe Herod died in 4 BC so they say Jesus must have been born in at least 4 BC and even as early as 7 BC. As we have seen, the Bible says Jesus was 30 in 29 AD, a date which is not disputed and therefore safe to use as an anchor together with others as we shall see.

SHORT AND LONG TERM FULFILMENT OF PROPHECY:

This is another principle with which we have to become familiar in order to make progress to key dates. Short and long term fulfilment of prophecy is God using the day/year principle.

Numbers 14:34 says; "For forty years - one year for each of the forty days you explored in the land..."

Ezekiel 4:1-6 says that he has to lie in the square bearing the sin of Israel for 390 days. "I have assigned you the same number of days as the years of their sin..." Then later God says regarding the sin of the house of Judah; "I have assigned you 40 days, a year for each day..." A good example of how God uses images to communicate, on this occasion through poor, long suffering Ezekiel!

TESTING FROM SCRIPTURE:

If you are a little sceptical of what you have read so far then this will amaze you! I am going to show you that we can test this year/day principle and at the same time test the year of the Crucifixion of 33 AD (thus rendering the Herod's death in 4 BC theory worthless) and test the 490 years principle and whether it is the number for forgiveness - ALL FROM ONE SCRIPTURE!

In Daniel 9:24 Gabriel tells Daniel: "Seventy sevens are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy." What a wonderful teaching scripture this is and not a single word is wasted either.

Gabriel tells Daniel that the captivity will be finished in 490 days. His people will then have atoned for the sin of not observing the Jubilee Sabbath years. Long term the 490 years refers to the Crucifixion of Jesus. After the decree to rebuild Jerusalem was given (Nehemiah 2:1-8) it was exactly 490 Civil Lunar Years of 354 days to the Cross - from 3694 CLYs (since creation) to 4184 CLYs (4184 - 3694 = 490) or if you like in our calendar 458 BC to 33 AD. Gabriel was also saying that in 490 Civil Lunar Years from that date Jesus would put an end to sin by paying the price for all of us.

IF THE JEWS HAD READ AND UNDERSTOOD THEIR OWN SCRIPTURES THEY WOULD HAVE KNOWN JESUS WAS THEIR MESSIAH SO GOD HID IT AWAY AND IS REVEALING IT IN THESE LAST DAYS!

There are many more examples of this, some of which will be covered later in this study. The latter part of which will be a history of the world from a Biblical perspective. It will be from Creation to the year 2000 AD. I plan to enter on it all the prophecies and how they were fulfilled although some are still to be fulfilled, of course. In addition to this it will have the dates of the making of the Bible, the history of the Church, the history of Israel together with all the Biblical kings with their dates taken from the Bible.

A summary of the histories of the main countries of the world will be included on the same chart. For example, Britain, France, China, Japan, America, Egypt, India, Persia, Babylon, Assyria, Phoenicia, Greece, Italy etc. All helping to show that the Bible can be relied upon.

TIMES OF THE GENTILES FULFILLED:

Daniel chapter 4 tells of the madness of Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel tells the king that God will visit judgement on him and that he will be mad for 7 years and all this was fulfilled. After 7 years he repents of his wickedness and his sanity is restored. He is restored to his throne and becomes greater than before. But Daniel 4 is one of the keys to the times of the Gentiles and the Second Advent of Jesus! Although it tells of the short term fulfilment of Nebuchadnezzar's dream it also tells us much more when we convert the number of days into Babylonian years.

A "time" in Daniel 4 is a Babylonian year of 360 days. 7 times is 7 years therefore 7 x 360 days is 2520 days which was the time of Nebuchadnezzar's madness - but where does this take us if we apply the year for a day principle? This figure then becomes 2520 years. What does this mean? It can be answered through the work of Dr H Grattan Guinness.

The times of the Gentiles refers to the time when the Jews were dominated by the Gentiles. It became clear to Grattan Guinness that the Times of the Gentiles seemed to begin in 4 stages: 607 BC, 604 BC, 598 BC and 588 BC:

607 BC was the accession year of Nebuchadnezzar. The Babylonian king's first year was referred to as their accession year, then the first year of their reign followed in what we would term their second year! He was a General in his father's army away fighting the Egyptians. Egyptologist David Rohl tells us it was Pharaoh Necho II (Wehemibre) of the 26th dynasty who reigned from 610 to 595 BC. This is another chronology test which is successful. On his way back home he took Jerusalem but then went back home to claim his dead father's throne, taking with him nobles Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.

604 BC was the vision of Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 2) and the Gentile empires.

598 BC King Jehoiakim revolts against Nebuchadnezzar in his absence from Jerusalem, then he died. His son succeeds him but Nebcuchadnezzar defeats him and takes him back to Babylon with others such as Ezekiel.

588 BC was the final stage of the gentile domination. After another rebellion Nebuchadnezzar destroys Jerusalem and the temple and brought all the riches back to Babylon.

2520 YEARS AHEAD.

Now if we make it years instead of days and add 2520 years to these dates, less 1 as there is no 0 BC, we arrive at:

607 BC - 1914 AD.

604 BC - 1917 AD.

598 BC - 1923 AD.

588 BC - 1933 AD.

The historians amongst you will recognise these dates but let us look in some detail what happened at these times and see if we can spot the fingerprints of God.

1914: THE BEGINNING OF WARS AND RUMOURS OF WARS.

There are many signs to look for of the end of this age. One is Matthew 24:6-7 when Jesus said; "You will hear of wars and rumours of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom..." Luke 21:9 adds; "Wars and revolution...but the end will not come right away."

Can anyone doubt that 1914 was the start of wars and rumours of wars? There were wars before this date of course but nothing like the Great War. There had never been anything like it before. Nation did rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. Revolutions took place. Luke 21:24 says: "Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled." 1914 marked the beginning of this and the Gentile collapse.

The Gentile nations rose up against each other like nothing else before. The whole world fought each other. By the end of the First World War major nations, empires and kingdoms, thought impossible before 1914, had collapsed. It was a time of great change. People said the world would never be the same again and it became a different place. EVER SINCE 1914 THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A TIME WHEN A WAR WAS NOT BEING FOUGHT SOMEWHERE!

In 1914 the British decided the Jews should have a nation of their own. Balfour offered them Uganda. Chin Veizman, Israel's first President, persuaded Balfour to Zionism. In 1914 the Jews fought alongside the British. He was the inventor of TNT and gave it to Britain. God blesses those who bless the Jews!

1917: BRITISH TAKE JERUSALEM. BALFOUR DECLARATION.

The Turks had dominated Jerusalem since the 7th century but in 1917 the British army, led by Field Marshal Allenby who showed his genius for war, defeated the Turks at Gaza which led to the capture of Jerusalem. The Turks would never have given the Jews independence, of course.

Lord Balfour wrote# to Lord Rothschild on November 2nd telling him the British Government would like to see the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine. This was the famous "Balfour Declaration". As the British controlled Jerusalem now the Jews began to go home.

1923: PALESTINIAN MANDATE:

The League of Nations, the forerunner of the United Nations, signed the Palestinian Mandate stating Britain would decide what happened to the Jews and as Balfour had declared what he would do the Jews went to Palestine in their droves.

Remember the world may be able to choose greater events and dates but to God there could be nothing more important than Jerusalem and the events connected with that city of central world stage.

1933: THE TIMES OF THE GENTILES ARE FULFILLED.

This is one of the most important years in man's relationship with God - 1933. We can arrive at this date from many different directions. God is telling us how important it is.

2000 OF GOD'S YEARS FROM 33 AD TO 1933!

A day is as 1000 years, Jesus was crucified at the end of day 4 (33 AD) allowing for Jubilee years and Judgement years. Add on another 2000 of God's years to arrive at 1933. Remember these are Civil Lunar Years of 354 days which translate into our Solar Years of 1899 Solar Years 245 days. 33 AD plus 1899 years 245 days equals 1933.

588 BC = 1933:

We arrive at 1933 by this method too which has already been explained on page 25.

11TH HOUR:

A third way to arrive at 1933 is by the 15 years equals 1 hour principle. The First World War finished on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. God was obviously warning the Gentile nations He was going to cut them off. They were at the 11th hour and sure enough 1 hour later (15 years) in 1933 it happened. So what was so special about 1933? One notable event was Adolf Hitler becoming German Chancellor in January 1933.

Romans 11:17-24 explains the significance of this year. God cuts off the branches of unbelief and grafts in other of believers. The Jews were cut off in 33 AD because of their unbelief, not all Jews of course, only those who did not believe. The Gentiles who did believe were grafted in but those Gentiles who did not were going to be cut off in 1933.

Much of this is the work of Grattan Guiness but it was taken up by Mr A E Ware referred to earlier. From his writings one can tell he thought the second advent of Jesus was going to be in 1933 - but it is not that simple. That is no doubt why God tells us not to try work it out but look for the signs. Everything seemed to point to 1933 and it did, but not the second advent, it was that the times of the Gentiles were to be fulfilled. Instead of the second advent, God visited judgement on the Gentiles and can anyone doubt we are suffering the judgement of God in our nations now. The work of Arthur Ware was to show that since 1933 we are living in a period of judgement. Unbelieving Gentiles are out of fellowship with God. He has turned us over to the lusts of the flesh, all kinds of sin and rebellion against God.

JUDGMENT YEARS OF GOD ARE LITERALLY YEARS NOT RECKONED BY HIM.

Another example of unreckoned years is in Exodus 12 which tells of the Passover Lamb. On the 10th day of the 1st month each man must take a year old male lamb without defect, symbolic of Jesus of course. He had to keep it until the 14th day of the month before slaughtering it. Why keep this lamb 4 days? " Peter 3:8 tells us a 1000 years is like a day as we have seen. Therefore the lamb was kept equivalent of 4000 years which is symbolic of Jesus who was sacrificed 4000 years after the creation and the fall of Adam. Jesus was "Slain from the creation of the world." Yet anyone can tell you He was slain 4000 years after creation! There seems to be another contradiction here in the Bible but it's not. Now we know about these unreckoned periods we can see the 4 days/4000 years was an unreckoned period - to God they are the same. He has cancelled time, showing He can do that for the cancellation of sin - well PRAISE THE LORD FOR THAT!

WORLD DEPRESSION, 1933 AND MAN'S ATTEMPTS TO DO IT THEIR WAY:

WORLD DEPRESSION.

By the time 1933 came the world was in deep depression. It had begun in October 1929 with the panic fall in stock prices. It was the most severe and widespread economic decline of modern times. The normal business cycles had been broken. This was the Great Depression: Total output in the United States declined by a staggering 30% between 1929 and 1932. Unemployment was running at 25% in 1932. In 1933 when Franklin D Roosevelt took office 420 banks had failed from January to March! As banks were in danger he closed them all.

ATHEISTIC GOVERNMENT.

In Great Britain the general election of May 1929 had led to a majority Labour government, a high percentage of the members were atheist with Ramsay MacDonald as Prime Minister. He resumed his peace work begun in 1924. Europe was unsettled at this time, aggravated by France's occupation of the Ruhr. This seemed to have caused distress and unemployment in Britain whose prestige was now low and relations between major European countries were poor. After mounting unemployment due to world wide depression, Ramsey MacDonald appointed the Economic Advisory Committee and in 1930 invited the emergency co-operation of the other political parties. A National Government was formed in 1931 (although most of MacDonald's socialist colleagues resigned in protest).

WORLD ECONOMIC CONFERENCE.

Finally in 1933 he called the World Economic Conference because of world economic failure. It seems their task was no less than to save the world from disaster. It is clear it was a possible solution organised by "man" to save the world. There was no call on God. It was as if "man" was turning his back on Him.

THE NUMBER OF MAN.

It is interesting, although I agree not conclusive, that remembering the number for "man" in Bible numerology is 6, it convened on June 12th (6th month), (12th = 6 x 2), at 3-0pm (6 divided by 2). Attending were 66 nations (6 x 11), 600 delegates attended (6 x 100) and it lasted 6 weeks (6 x 1)!

King George the V was the official host and his welcoming speech was censored by MacDonald taking out all reference to God. The conference was a failure, nations could not agree and, yes, 6 years later World War Two started.

TOWER OF BABEL:

The World Economic Conference of 1933 has been interestingly compared to the original Tower of Babel. There are certain similarities for the spiritually discerning Christian: They had a common language - so did the conference with interpreters. The Tower was man-made without God - so was the Conference. The people looked to Nimrod, the builder of the tower, for all the answers - the people looked to the Conference for all answers. The tower was rebellion against God - so was the Conference. Indeed, rebellion against God, the great sin of our age, has been rife ever since.

ON JUNE 12TH, 1933 THE TIMES OF THE GENTILES WERE FULFILLED.
 

WHERE ARE WE NOW?

The Times of the Gentiles have been fulfilled over the 19 years from 1914 to 1933 (19 in Bible numerology stands for "final completion" incidentally!). We are now living in a period of Judgement Years which is why it is impossible to work out the time of the Second Advent of Jesus. As we have seen on page 13, 70 is the number for "judgement" and if the Times of the Gentiles were completed by 1933 and we are now living in a time of judgement, simple arithmetic takes us to 2003. Please do not misinterpret what I am saying here, I am not saying the Second Advent will take place in 2003, I mention this in case you read more into this than I intend. I do not know when Jesus will come for us and I look forward to that day with great eagerness, believe me, but in 2003 God may well have something else up his sleeve! As you have seen by reading this study, God outwits all of us with a blink of His eye!

FULFILLING OF THE TIMES OF THE GENTILES:

Let us resume our summary of pertinent events from 1914. There was nothing like the First World War. It's effects were devastating and world wide. There were a staggering 65,038,810 (mainly) men mobilised to fight including 8,904,476 from the British Empire. There were 37,494,186 men killed or injured in total (57.6%), including 3,190,235 (35.8%) from the British Empire. Russia mobilised a staggering 12,000,000 with 76.3% killed or injured. France 8,410,000 with 73.3% killed or injured. Germany 11,000,000 with 64.9% killed or injured.

In World War Two 57 nations were involved covering most of the world. The British Commonwealth lost 544,596. The US 292,100. Soviet Union 7,500,000. Germany 2,850,000 all either killed or missing. The total number of killed or missing was 15,300,000 and this figure does not include civilians! As a result of the Nazi slave labour activities and the war raging over the continent, over 10,000,000 civilians were displaced by the end of the war in Europe alone.

WHEN JESUS SAID THERE WOULD BE WARS AND RUMOURS OF WARS HE CERTAINLY WAS NOT EXAGGERATING! BUT HE ALSO SAID THAT IN SPITE OF THIS, THE END WAS NOT YET. LET US REMEMBER THAT.

IT IS MY BELIEF WE ARE ALL UNDER A CURSE FROM GOD NOW AND SUFFERING HIS JUDGMENT:

Rebellion against God is commonplace now. I am not advocating we try live the Law of Moses, of course, as Jesus fulfilled that law. God, however, requires us to keep certain basic moral laws and we all fall short of this which is why we all need Jesus. However, deliberate rebellion against God's laws is rampant. The Victorians are often criticised for being hypocritical as fornication, adultery and homosexuality took place (as it always had) but it was hidden. They were ashamed but now it is a source of pride! They tell God they will do as they like. That's real wickedness. They rebel against parents. They live together as man and wife. Many are so promiscuous they are like prostitutes, not knowing how many sexual partners they have had! "Gay Pride" marches take place in major cities - they're saying they're proud of breaking God's laws.

CAN ANYONE DOUBT WE ARE LIVING IN A TIME OF JUDGMENT FROM GOD. HE HAS CURSED US. (Yes, God blesses us but He also curses us don't forget).

JERUSALEM AND THE TIMES OF THE GENTILES:

Luke 21:24 says; "They (the Jews) will fall by the sword and will be taken up as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled."

The state of Israel was born in 1948 but the Jews did not control Jerusalem until Jordan and other Arab nations invaded Israel in 1967. Then the power of God was clearly demonstrated as the Jews fought the 6 days war pushing back dramatically the invaders, thus occupying the West Bank and other places. They had become in control of Jerusalem for the first time since the beginning of the times of the Babylonian captivity in 607 BC.

From 1933 to 1948 is 15 years - remember what 15 years represents? Before they could have their promised land the Jews had to wait that extra "hour" because of their unfaithfulness to the bridegroom.

Now we can see how Luke 21:24 has been fulfilled. Jerusalem was controlled by the Gentile nations until the times of the Gentiles had been fulfilled in 1933. If 1933 was not the year the times of the Gentiles was fulfilled then Luke 21:24 would be a false prophecy. I have had it put to me that the Jews, even to this day, do not control all of Jerusalem because of the Arab's possession of their temple. This is being pedantic if I may say so. This is a building within the city of Jerusalem but the Jews control and administer the whole of Jerusalem. It is like saying God did not destroy all the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah because Lot and his family got away.

We have said that 19 stands for final completeness. From 1948, and the establishment of the state of Israel, to 1967 when God allowed the Jews to have Jerusalem, was just 19 years - the job was finally complete. Many Jews were very disappointed when, in 1948 they found they had a state without control of Jerusalem but all they had to do was read Daniel and they would have known it would take a period of final completeness until 1967 before it could take place.

When I was a boy in Pudsey, Yorkshire a man named Frank Wood was a keen Bible student and most of his teaching went over my head but some things I remember which all go the confirm this chronology. He had one of Grattan Guiness' books who did so much of this ground work. Roger Price, late of the Chichester Christian Fellowship had this book at one time and he, like so many others, has made a study of Guiness' work. Guiness' work cannot fail to impress a thinking Christian.

STEPHEN'S MARTYRDOM.

Is it possible the Jews were still not cut off at the Crucifixion but given even more time until they were finally cut off when they killed Stephen? Consider this: The Gentile period ended on June 12th, 1933. This would really be the 14th because don't forget our calendar is still two days behind (remember 1752). Remember this too: If we multiply 1960 by 354 days then divide the answer by 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, 46 seconds (Solar Year) that comes to 1899 Solar Years 245 days. Deduct this from 14th June 1933 - answer 12th October 1932. Then subtract 1899 Solar Years - answer; 12th October 33 AD the date of the first Christian martyr and date the Jews were cut off!
 

THE TRUE BIRTH DATE OF JESUS:

According to Frank Wood Jesus speaks to the Holy Spirit (Luke 13:6-9) asking for one more year of ministry to labour with the Jews in order to gain a greater harvest. This meant His labouring was for 4 years, one extra Civil Lunar Year. If the Jews were cut off on October 12th, 33 AD then this was spoken 354 days earlier on October 23rd, 32 AD - agreed? To find the date Jesus started His ministry (our calendar) we go back 3 Civil Lunar Years which is 1062 days. This brings us to November 26th, 29 AD when He was 30 years old.

Luke 3:23 says Jesus was about 30 years old when He began His ministry. In Numbers 4 and 1 Corinthians 23:3 it says a Levite had to be 30 years old, not about, to minister as High Priest. Numerous places in the Bible tell us Jesus fulfilled the law exactly. One such scripture is Matthew 5:17-20; Jesus says; "...I have not come to abolish (the law) but to fulfil them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the law until everything is accomplished."

Therefore, if the law was that Jesus should begin at 30 and He began at about 30 then He had not abided by His own words. This scripture alone allows us to be confident Jesus was exactly 30 when He began His ministry thus fulfilling the law as He said He would. It is interesting to note that a number of Greek scholars claim this to be a wrong translation: Professor W M Ramsey and Bishop Charles Wordsworth both claim the "about" should read "exactly". I am not a Greek scholar so I have to take their word for it but it does fit an otherwise exact Luke Gospel.

THE BIRTH DATE OF JESUS:

To arrive at the birth date of Jesus is now a simple calculation; On November 26th, 29 AD Jesus was 30 years old. That is, He was 30 Civil Lunar Years old or 10,620 days. We then subtract 10,620 days (i.e., 29 Solar Years, 29 days) from November 26th, 29 AD (remember no 0 BC) and we arrive at the birthday of Jesus; October 29th, 1 BC, on the Feast of Tabernacles.

Well, we knew it wasn't December 25th didn't we?

KEY DATES IN BIBLICAL AND WORLD HISTORY:

I am going to share with you all the dates in my possession. I have a 12 feet long chart on my study wall containing chronologically all this information calculated over many years and I'm going to attempt to put them on these pages. The chart is Biblical and secular history - secular to give the Biblical history some context. We'll discover which Pharaoh it was with whom Moses negotiated. Which Pharaoh sacked Jerusalem. The names by which David, Saul, Solomon were known during their life times. Even the name given to Vizier Joseph by the Pharaoh - yes, Joseph was real, he is a historical figure. Also names by which others were known during their life time.

However, before we exam these key dates we have to clear up one further puzzle, a tradition which is untrue. Something which has puzzled thinking Christians for many years and came about by a misunderstanding of Jewish traditions and became entangled with a Roman holiday.
 

THE FIRST EASTER:

I believe that Jesus was crucified on Wednesday, April 29th 33 AD and was resurrected on Saturday, May 2nd 33 AD at 3-0pm, exactly 3 days and 3 nights later. REMEMBER, THERE ARE NO THROW-AWAY STATEMENTS IN THE BIBLE!

In Matthew 12:39-40 Jesus says He will give no sign other than the sign of Jonah: "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." (Luke 11:29-30 says a similar thing). What could be more plain? Jesus said it Himself so there can be no doubt.

TRADITION:

We all know that tradition states that Jesus was crucified on Good Friday and He was raised on Easter Sunday morning. This cannot be reconciled with Matthew 12:39-40 no matter how we bend the truth and try, and many have. The truth is that by the time that Emperor Constantine partially paganised the Church the Friday/Sunday Easter was being established. There had been great debates in the early Church between the Eastern and Western factions but mainly about the time of Easter and whether it should be celebrated at the 14th Nisan or on a particular day i.e., Friday/Sunday. In 155 AD Polycarp and Pope Anicetius had argued the question without result. In 185 AD Pope Victor enforced the Friday/Sunday view on the rest of Christendom and got his way apart from the Church in Asia so he excommunicated them! Church history is quite involved here and beyond the scope of this study but suffice it to say that the Eastern Church did abandon 14th Nisan at the Council of Nicaea. We should also remember that Sunday was a Roman holiday. Long before Pope Anicetus, the "Church" had abandoned the leadership of the Holy Spirit in favour of the rules of men. What God seeks to establish - man seeks to control.

Some have put great faith in the Jewish saying to help reconcile Matthew 12 with tradition: "A day and a night make an onah, and a part of an onah is as the whole." Even if this were true it adds up to three part days and two nights only. No, the answer lies yet again in understanding the Bible! The clue is in John 19:31 which reads: "Now it was the day of Preparation and the next day was to be a special Sabbath." It was the Passover.

The Passover of Yahweh was held on the 14th Nisan. The feast of Unleavened Bread extended for 7 days beginning with the day after Passover i.e., from the 15th to the 21st Nisan. The names of these two feasts are often used interchangeably. The feast of the First Fruits took place on the second day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread but after the special Sabbath. In addition to this we have to remember that the Jewish day begins at 6-0pm (sunset), 6 hours earlier that our day.

There was a Preparation Day for each Sabbath so there would be a Preparation Day before this special Sabbath. The day after this special Sabbath there was another Preparation Day before the normal Sabbath. The Passover began on the 14th Nisan when the Passover meal was prepared late in the day (our afternoon). The actual meal was eaten on the 15th Nisan, i.e., after 6-0pm on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. When you read the four Gospels you will see it all fits in. So how does this illustrate?

FURTHER TESTS:

There are many further tests we could apply to this chronology to see whether it be true or not. We have seen that Arthur Ware's work on Grattan Guinness' and Sir Edward Denny's work was his magnum opus. He accepted in faith the date 1933 as fulfilling the times of the Gentiles. I have found in my own Christian walk that the Lord says to me I should believe first and afterwards He will show me. This I have done and can certainly identify with Arthur Ware in this. He believed 1933 was the year and then the Lord showed him that it was exactly 6000 Julian years from Creation to 1933, confirmation indeed that he had not misheard the Lord.
 

PHARAOH SHISHAK:

However, we will confirm this chronology in other ways. It would be fair to assume that the dating of secular historical characters should fit this chronology. Of course not every date in secular history is accurate and for this reason I am certainly not claiming all would fit but a fair proportion would be reasonable.

We have seen already this chronology lines up nicely with other key figures such as Pharaoh Sobekhotep, Pharaoh Necho I, King Cyrus the Persian, Darius King of Persia, Emperor Tiberius and even Pilate which I have not actually mentioned. Now let's look at Pharaoh Shishak. Who on earth could the mysterious Shishak be? There is no one in Egyptian history to come anywhere near such a person.

Jerusalem has been assaulted many times in history. It is ironical that "Jerusalem" means the "City (or foundation) of Shalem", from the Hebrew "shalom" meaning "peace". It therefore means; "The City of Peace".

According to the Bible, one such assaulter was Pharaoh "Shishak" in 2 Chronicles 12:3. This tells us that in the 5th year of King Rehoboam, Shishak, King of Egypt attacked the Jews taking their fortified cities and came as far as Jerusalem. He came with 1,200 chariots and 60,000 horsemen. It must have been a horrifying experience and understandably recorded in their history as an important event. 1 Kings 14:25 confirms this. The question is: Who was this Pharaoh? We have seen that Rehoboam reigned from 992 BC (3160) to 975 BC (3177) so any secular dates have to fit these dates.

Pharaoh Shishak is thought by traditionalists to be Shoshenk II, a delta king who reigned from 945 BC to 924 BC and of Libyan decent. Edwin Thiele claims Shoshenk is Shishak of the Bible - but the dates do not match. In addition evidence found in Egypt shows Shoshenk avoided his enemy Reboboam and attacked his ally Jeroboam, King of Israel. Yet Shishak in the Bible attacks Rehoboam! I have heard people say there must be a mistake but I believe the Bible to be accurate.

Egyptologist David Rohl says Shishak was Ramesses II claiming Shishak is a corruption of a pet name. Ramesses had over 200 children and his daughters had a pet name for him: "Sese" a Hypocristic form of Ramesses. Others seem to have had pet names for him such as "Mose", "Mes", Sesa", Sysu" and Sysa". The Egyptian "s" is rendered "sh" in Hebrew and therefore "Sisa" would be rendered "Shisha" a small step to "Shishak". It is a respectable Hypothesis. But why would the Hebrews give their terrifying assaulter a pet name?

Ramesses II did record an assault in Israel in his 8th year of 925 BC according to Egyptologist Edwin Thiele. Ramesses II is often claimed to be the Pharaoh of the Exodus as in the film; "The Ten Commandments", he cannot be both. In Spite of these interesting arguments we can dismiss Ramesses II as being Shishak because his dates are wrong. The traditional view is that he reigned from 1279 BC to 1213 BC and David Rohl's view is slightly earlier starting at 1295 BC.

PROBLEM SOLVED:

We know the assault happened in 987 BC, the 5th year of Rehoboam and the Pharaoh ruling at this time was the Tanite 21st dynasty Amenemopet who ruled from 993 to 984 BC. This Tanite dynasty ruled from the eastern delta capital of Tanis and ruled concurrently with the less powerful Theban priest-kings. I believe Shishak in the Bible is Amenemopet the Assaulter. We refer to King William I of England as William the Conqueror. To describe individuals by their deeds is a Hebrew tradition as we shall see. He would be referred to as "The Assaulter", just as we say; "The Conqueror". The Hebrew word for "Assaulter" is "Shashak". It means; "He who crushes under foot or wheel". There is little difference between "Shishak" and "Shashak".

DATING EGYPT:

Dating Egypt is not quite as precise as some lead us to believe. Radiometric dating is most unreliable as argued in my study; "Evolution or Creation?". The decrease in the velocity of light has a dramatic effect as also argued in the same study. Egyptologists Edwin Thiele, David Rohl, R Hedges, F Hale and H Haas all reject Calibrated Carbon 14 as a dating method.

David Rohl and Edwin Thiele both seem to believe that dates before 7th century BC are guesswork to a large extent. We should also realise that many of these dynasties ran concurrently. There is now a lot of evidence for this and it calls into question so many of the current theories. 2000 to 4000 years is a long time ago and digging up evidence and piecing it together like a jigsaw is bound to be based on assumptions which if incorrect, throw everything into doubt. This is why I prefer the Bible and the inspired chronology of Sir Edward Denny, Dr Grattan Guinness and A E Ware. However, there are many secular dates that confirm our study.
 

MOSES:

The Pharaoh who did not know Joseph (Exodus 1:8) would have been one of the numerous pharaohs of the next dynasty, the 13th. This accounts for why he would not "know him". There were 21 pharaohs in 63 years from when the 12th dynasty died out in 1759 BC to the start of the recorded pharaohs of the 13th dynasty who was Neferhotep I, 1696-1685 BC. We cannot be sure of the name of this pharaoh who first enslaved the Israelites but we do know he was one of the early 13th dynasty (Bible numerologists note). The 76 pharaohs of the 14th dynasty ruled in the western delta area concurrently with the 13th.

This unstable 13th dynasty ended in 1621 BC. The date with which we are concerned is the Pharaoh of the Exodus in 1639 BC. Sobekhotep VI ruled from 1641 to 1639 BC, a period of only 2 years, 2 months and 9 days. This Pharaoh would have been the one. As we do not know from the Bible just how long Moses negotiated with the Pharaoh and they could have commenced in the reign of Pharaoh Ay who reigned from 1664 to 1641 BC.
 

KING SAUL:

One of the most interesting characters in the Bible is King Saul (Hebrew; Shaul). His name means; "Asked for (by the people)" 1 Samuel 8 tells us how the people asked for a king. God tells Samuel that his people have rejected Him as their king and to anoint Saul king. During his reign he controlled most of the central hill country but Jerusalem remained in the hands of the Jesusites until David's time. Near the end of his reign he was active in the Jezreel Valley trying to unite 4 northern tribes with his newly forged kingdom. It leads to his death at Mount Gilboa when defeated by the Philistine Confederacy[15].

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

It is a Hebrew tradition to rename individuals after their death (and sometimes before). Examples are Jacob/Israel, Abram/Abraham and Saul/Paul. Names were also given because they were descriptive as Peleg. Adam means; "Blood likeness of God". It is fairly certain King Saul would not have been known as "Saul" in his lifetime. This would be his legendary name given to him after his death in true Hebrew tradition, as a commentary or summary of his life and times. It is believed Jeremiah wrote Samuel and that long after he would have been giving Saul his legendary name.

PSALM 57:

Here we begin to find an answer to Psalm 57. David is fleeing from Saul and hiding in a cave. He says in verse 4; "I am in the midst of lions, I am among ravenous beasts - men whose teeth are spears and arrows..." The Hebrew word here for lions is, "lebaim" meaning; "great lions".

"LABAYU".

There is much evidence to show that Saul would have been known as "Labayu" during his lifetime. This may seem strange to us but this was the Hebrew way and it is scriptural as I have pointed out before. Labayu, a Hebrew chieftain or king wrote a well documented, but uneducated as Saul was, letter to Pharaoh Ramesses XI. He warned the Pharaoh not to provoke him. Labaya or Labayu (either is correct) also had trouble with his son as did Saul with Jonathan. Now let us see how this fits in with Psalm 57:

David describes Saul's body guards as "Lebaim". "Labayu" can also be translated; "Great Lions of Yahweh". ("Yahweh - Yahuwah - YHWH - is Hebrew for Jehovah and probably pronounced; "Yahuveh" or "Yahuvah"). In 1953 arrowheads were discovered at El-Khadr, near Bethlehem, bearing the inscription; "Hiz'abd Leb'at" meaning; "Arrowheads of the servant of the Great Lion(ess)." It certainly brings new depth to Psalm 57.

Ramesses XI reigned from 1099 to 1069 BC according to Edwin Thiele. Saul reigned from 1112 to 1072 BC so they were contemporaries as were Labayu and Ramesses. On this fact alone it is difficult to see Saul and Labayu as two different, contemporary (the Amarna period) giant leaders with vast armies, in the very same tiny country, doing the same things! It is the belief of many historians and mine as well, that Saul and Labayu are one and the same and that Saul was known as Labayu (The Lion of Yahweh) in his life time. I believe he was given the name Saul (Asked For) after his death as a comment on his life according to Hebrew tradition.
 

"DADUA - BELOVED OF YAHWEH":

An El-Amarna letter (EA256) written in the late 11th century BC offers further proof of this chronology. It was written to Pharaoh's Egyptian Commissioner in Gaza and reads:

"Say to Yanhamu, my Lord: Message of Mutbaal, your servant, I fall at the feet of my Lord. How can it be said in your presence; 'Mutbaal has fled. He has hidden Ayab?' How can the King of Pella flee from the Commissioner, agent of the King his Lord? As the King my Lord lives, as the King my Lord lives. I swear Ayab is not in Pella. In fact he has been in the field on campaign for two months. Just ask Benenima. Just ask Dadua. Just ask Yishuya..."

This is a very interesting letter, not just because of the date but because of the names of individuals it contains. It is from Mutbaal, a rendering of Ishbaal the son of Labayu (Saul). It is sent from the city of Pella, a stronghold in Transjordan, after the battle of Gilboa was over.

BENENIMA:

This is the equivalent of Baanah (Hebrew). Jewish scholar Benjamin Mazar says that it should be interpreted "Ba(n)-ana" meaning "son of (the god) Ana". It can also be rendered "Bin-anah". "BENENIMA" is divided into three elements: "Ben" or "Bin" meaning "son". "En(a)" or "An(a)" the god of the Caananites and "(C)ima" the majestic plural ending. The meaning therefore, is "son of Ana", the Biblical Ban-anah or Baanah. He can be found in 2 Samuel 4, the son of Rimmon the Beerothrite from early in the reign of David.

DADUA:

This is the authentic name of David, the founder of Israel's dynasty. It is written as "Dwd" in early Hebrew as in 1 Samuel 16:13. Later it was written; "Dawid" but vocalised "Dud" or "Dad". The Septuagint renders it "Dad" (1 Kings 2:33) from the Alexandrinus copy, which is one of the oldest surviving manuscripts of the Greek translation of the Old Testament, from Alexandria.

Professor Kenneth Kitchen (Egyptologist), David Rohl (Egyptologist) and Martin Noth (Biblical scholar) all agree that Dadua is David and that this letter was written at the time he was King of Hebron. Variants of Dadua are Dudiyah, Dadiyah and Daduyah all meaning, "Beloved of Yahweh". They also agree that Yishuya (Hebrew; "Yishay"), is David's father Jesse who's name means "Deity Exists". Ayab is Joab.

CONCLUSION:

The letter was written by Ishbaal, son of Saul, in which he refers to Joab, David's military commander, Baanah, a chieftain. It refers to David, king of Hebron and Jesse, his father.

The letter places it in the late 11th century BC corresponding with this chronology. David reigned from 1072 to 1032 BC, the late 11th century BC.
 

JOSEPH:

David Rohl has done a great deal of work trying to identify Joseph, that great Vizier of Egypt and his findings correspond to this chronology. The Kahun Papyri is a valuable collection of administrative documents from the 12th dynasty when Joseph was Vizier. Contained therein was a Vizier named Ankhu but he could be from the early 13th dynasty. The interesting thing here is that he used great storehouses constructed in the previous vizierate and Rohl believes these relate to Joseph. However, we need far more than that.

Jacob entered Egypt in 1848 BC and the Pharaoh at this time was Amenemhat II who reigned from 1875 to 1840 BC. The Nile over flooded a number of times then. This would mean it would take longer to return to it's normal level, thus preventing the people from planting their crops until it was too late, which in turn would cause famine.

However, I much prefer evidence from the Bible which has proved so reliable over and over again: Genesis 41:45 says Pharaoh gave Joseph the Egyptian name (a common practice) "Zaphenath-Paneah" or "Pa'aneah". What on earth can this mean? It seems to be garbled until we realise this was an Egyptian name being heard and recorded by an Hebrew writer, traditionally Moses. He has obviously got it slightly wrong. Professor Kitchen says in "Zaphenat" the "p" and the "t" have been reversed. It seems that Moses, who would have been familiar with Egyptian, has seen the text written in Egyptian and translated it wrongly. What is even more likely is that he has heard the name spoken and assumed in was the common Semitic root word, "zaphan". He says the actual name would be, "Zat-en-aph", that is; "Djed(u)-en-ef" in Egyptian , meaning "he who is called". Therefore we can say Pharaoh named Joseph; "He who is called Pa'aneah". This and "Aneah" represents the Egyptian word for life, "ankh" or "ankhu" meaning, "is alive". "Pa is the Egyptian "Ipu" or "Ipi" so really in Egyptian his name would be; "Djed(u)en-ef Ipiankh(u)".

JOSEPH'S NAME of "Djed(u)-en-ef Ipiankh(u)" given to him by Pharaoh Amenemat II helps confirm our chronology further. "Ipiankh(u)" was a popular name in the Middle Kingdom during which Amenemat II reigned but unknown at any other time. The same goes for "Asenet(h)" his wife.

David Rohl also tells us that there is much evidence to show major administrative and agricultural reforms took place during this 12th dynasty. There is also a great deal of archaeological evidence to show the Israelites lived in Aaris at the time.

RAMESSES? Genesis 47:11 says: "So Joseph settled his father and his brothers in Egypt and gave them property in the best part of the land, the district of Ramesses..." This has fooled many Bible chronologists but the explanation is really quite simple.

The first Pharaoh Ramesses reigned from 1295 to 12 94 BC but Genesis 47 is taking place in 1848 BC, long before and clearly that place would not have been known as Ramesses. It was thought because of this, that Joseph must have entered Egypt after the first Ramesses for it to be named that. This is not so. Consider this: We say the Romans invaded Britain in 55 BC by crossing the English Channel but that is incorrect, they crossed the "Litus Saxonicum" for that was it's name at the time. It is said Hadrian's 6th Legion founded York but this is not so; they founded "Eboracum". York is derived from the Viking name "Yorvic" in the 9th century. Writers use modern names to identify places. There is therefore no problem with

the name Ramesses - the writer was obviously using a more modern name to identify the location. Today that place is called; "Tell ed-Daba" so if Genesis had been written today the writer would have said Tell ed-Daba.

Goshen was the fertile region in the eastern Delta area. The city of Avaris , where many lived, was built by the first pharaohs of the 19th dynasty. It is this city , David Rohl tells us, that became as Pi-Ramesses or Pi-Ramesse. It is here where the slave centre of Moses' time was located.

IN CONCLUSION we can safely say the evidence shows Joseph as the 12th dynasty Vizier Djed-(u)-en-ef Ipiankh(u). That is Joseph was active in 1848 BC, the year Jacob and his sons entered Egypt which agrees with the date in this chronology.
 

SOLOMON:

A great deal is said about the reign of Solomon. We're told of an era of great cultural wealth described in 1 Kings and 2 Chronicles. However, this is not reflected in archaeology of Iron Age Palestine. It was actually an age of cultural impoverishment in the whole of the Levant. At the period conventional Chronology dates Solomon, his vast wealth and culture aren't there. Solomon was not an early Iron Age king but a late Bronze Age king. He reigned according to our chronology from 1032 to 992 BC. Once this is realised there is a wealth of evidence from the Levant to support this.

MEDIDDO, according to 1 Kings 9:15, was a city built by Solomon in the Jezreel valley. Little is found here from the Iron Age but a great deal from the Bronze Age. There is a great palace 50 metres in length with 2 metre thick walls with a great entrance hall, plastered floors and apartments off a great throne room with imposing basalt pillars. There is a bathing room paved with sea shells. Great treasures were found of gold vessels, jewellery and ivory - the greatest ever discovered in Palestine. The city had a triple entry gateway and a temple.

PHARAOHS DAUGHTER (1 kings 9:24) had been built a palace by Solomon and the only Egyptian architectural remains ever found in Jerusalem are again from the late Bronze Age.

SOLOMON'S NAME means "peaceful", Hebrew "Shelomoh" derived from "Shalom" meaning peace. It is clear from 2 Samuel 12:25 that the Lord wanted him to be named Jedidiah, which means "loved by the Lord" and He sent Nathan to tell David this. Again it is believed Jeremiah wrote Samuel and that he attributed his legendary name of Solomon to him as a comment on his peaceful reign. There is some evidence that he was referred to as Jedidiah during his lifetime.

Bible chronology is a big subject. World chronology, as we have seen, is closely connected to it. The one impacts on the other. It is based on assumptions but I believe the only reliable assumption one can make is that the Bible is correct. When one does that it all seems to fit together.

Mesopotamian chronology is determined by the king lists of Assyria, Babylon and the Eponym Lists from the city of Ashur. They start with the key anchor point of the sacking of Thebes in 664 BC by Ashurbanipal of Assyria who reigned from 669 to 627 BC. However, there is much guesswork and assumption can render cherished theories void.
 

SUMMARY OF THE STUDY: "THE REVELATION OF BIBLE CHRONOLOGY."

As you have seen, there is nothing in Bible chronology to suggest that the second advent of Jesus would have taken place in 2000 AD.

God is omnipresent in time and space. He is greater than time, which is an illusion anyway. God cancels time, He bends it, stretches it, speeds it up and slows it down. When God created light it was instantaneous which shortens the atomic time scale, those millions of years don't exist. Since then He has slowed time down. Decay has not been constant.

The Jubilee cycle means 1 in every 50 years do not exist in our time. Judgement years show there are many years in time which God does not count. These account for many of the apparent contradictions in Biblical numbers and show that the Bible is absolutely correct.

There are many different types of years and those in the Bible are mostly different to our years. The calendar has changed over the years. To refer to "years" in the Bible in too simplistic. 2000 of God's years actually amount to 1899 of our years plus any Judgement years.

There are anchor dates used to test this chronology, key dates which any chronology has to be able to stand testing along side. It also passes the test of short and long term prophecies and for a chronology to be correct these prophecy dates have to fit exactly - which they do. We saw that the times of the Gentiles were fulfilled in 1933 and we saw that 1933 is exactly 6000 years since creation. For this chronology to be correct, the dates of key historical figures have to match exactly - which they do. We tracked down the historical Saul, David, Solomon, Joseph, Pharaoh "Shishak" and saw Egyptian historical figures matched Bible history.
 

CONCLUSION:

The Bible is correct! When I hear liberal "Christian" theologians and apologists make excuses for God and the Bible, whether it be creation vs evolution or Bible chronology, when they try and help God, I wince. He doesn't need our help. The phrase that is the great exposition of a lack of Spiritual understanding of the Bible is: "We must interpret the Bible in the light of modern times". God is the same yesterday, today and will be tomorrow. Truth is truth - that won't change.

God is alive and well, I know, I spoke to Him this morning.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Get yourself right with God now.

We all do things wrong and the Bible calls this sin. God will reject us because of this when we pass into the next world fully conscious. We will go to a place the Bible calls "Hell" to be punished for the things we have done wrong and you will stay there forever - this will happen to you whether you believe it or not.

THE WRATH TO COME:

You can avoid this by calling on the name of Jesus. Someone once said that people will only flee to Jesus from the wrath to come, if they believe there is a wrath to come.

JESUS LOVES YOU SO MUCH THAT HE DIED FOR YOU. All you have to do is believe in Him and what He did for you and then take action. Jesus is the only way to God. Ask God to help you believe Jesus died for you and rose again.

First you must acknowledge you are a sinner. (Anything less than perfection to God is sin!) Then you have to repent, that is turn away from sin. Then call on the name of Jesus Who will save you. Jesus shed His blood for you and rose to life again but you have to take that gift from Him (a gift is meaningless if not received!). Jesus called this being "born again".

You must receive Jesus as your personal Saviour by personal invitation believing He died and rose again for YOU. If you find that difficult ask God to help you. Then pray this pray with a sincere attitude:

" Dear God,

I know I am separated from You and I know I have done things wrong. I ask You to forgive me. I now believe Jesus shed His blood on the cross in my place and that I am forgiven. I am willing to turn away from my sinful life and live it Your way. I believe You raised Jesus from the dead and He is alive today. I invite You Lord Jesus to come into my life now and I give You my life and ask You to help me live it in the way You desire. Amen"

If you prayed that prayer with a sincere heart, God will honour it and you now belong to Him - Jesus has saved you. However you need to do 5 things to help you:

1. Read your Bible daily to get to know Jesus better.

2. Talk to God in prayer every day. No ritual is required, that's religion. Just talk to Him respectfully. He wants a relationship with you, that's why He created you.

3. Tell others about Jesus. This is most important as you are required to "confess the name of Jesus" to at least one other person. You can't get away with telling the cat either! It has to be another person.

4. Meet and fellowship with other Christians where Jesus is glorified. Make sure they are Christians as there is a lot of deception around. Stay clear of cults such as Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses and avoid great big religious establishments who use empty ritual.

5. Allow God, through the Holy Spirit to control your life. Submit to Him and He will lead you.
