SO YOU THINK YOU KNOW ALL ABOUT THE MORMONS...WELL JUST READ ON.

A personal view by BRYCE KAYE.

We have been saddened by emails received mainly from young men, regarding the very personal sexual questions asked of them at the temple recommend interview, which places them under condemnation.  If you are one of these you should know this is an attempt to keep you "sin conscious".  You should be aware that a true follower of the real Jesus will be "righteousness conscious".  The Harlot Church has been controlling people for centuries by keeping them "sin conscious".

INTRODUCTION:

Most Mormons I have known have been kind, generous, sincere people and those you meet will be the same.  They claim they are the "only true church" and they really believe it.  It is most important to realise that although they are deceived, they do not realise it.  Consequently, they may get angry at you for trying to tell them but we Christians SHOULD ALWAYS WITNESS TO THEM WITH LOVE.  The Bible tells us (1 Corinthians 13) that love never fails and if we show love this is the most excellent way. To communicate with them in any other way is wrong and we would just be a "clanging cymbal".  Remember, it is not the Mormons themselves who are at fault but their doctrine and their history.

Therefore I encourage you to always show love to the Mormons.

The founder of Mormonism, Joseph Smith, taught that all other churches are an abomination to God (See 'First Vision' Pamphlet).  Therefore, this web site is a reply to that statement.   We are  simply  exercising our right of free speech in reply.

Mormons want to get YOU and your family into their religious organisation, everything else is propaganda.

If you are a Mormon reading this the chances are you will be horrified because I know you will be sincere. If you feel like this it is because you do not know enough about your own church. You will say you are nice people and children couldn't be safer than in a Mormon church. Physically this may be true, although certainly not always, but psychologically, no. You will say you're loving people and have the highest standards. I wouldn't disagree with you! But believe me, there is no better example of the skill and craftiness of the devil.  Beware, he uses Mormonism to steal your salvation by getting you to believe in a false Jesus - that is why MORMONISM IS FROM THE PIT OF HELL.

We list 53 'wives' of Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism.  What you will not know is that many of them were other men's wives.  Nancy Winchester, was only 15 years old (he was over 40 at the time) and was a child in his care.  Another, the daughter of Mormon apostle Heber C Kimball, was only 14 years old.  Many others were teenagers, some under age.  He was a serial womaniser and adulterer. He was also a convicted con man at Bainbridge, New York.

YOU WILL SEE THAT JOSEPH SMITH IS PROVED TO BE DISHONEST BECAUSE THE BOOK OF MORMON AND THEREFORE THE MORMON CHURCH IS PROVED TO BE FALSE BY MORMON SCIENTISTS.  For it to be true, Jewish DNA will be present in today's native Americans.  If it is not present - the Book of Mormon is false and the founder, Joseph Smith, lied.  Therefore the Mormon Church is false, a deception.  Read about this EXTENSIVE RESEARCH on DNA from tribes THROUGHOUT the American continent and see where the  native Americans really came from.  We name the Mormon scientists who carried out this research and tell you where you can obtain a video of them explaining the truth.  Read (and see) Mormon President, Gordon B Hinkley's reaction to this exposition.

Why do I say these things about Joseph Smith? Because the whole foundation of Mormonism rests on Joseph Smith's character. Le Grand Richards, a Mormon "apostle" said that. More about this later. We just give you the facts but you judge for yourself. Remember, we are not trying to get you to join anything - just be born again by believing in the real Jesus, not the Mormon counterfeit Jesus.

How do I know all this? I was a Mormon for many years, "endowed" in the Mormon temple. I used to teach Mormon doctrine and my favourite group I taught was the "priesthood" (the male members in good standing). I was steeped in it. I was one of it's most virulent advocates. I was always keen to defend the Mormon Church.  I honoured Joseph Smith, the founder, and all the subsequent Church Presidents believing them to be true living prophets of God. I believed the "witnesses" to the Book of Mormon were good honourable men and I believed the Book of Mormon to be the word of God and even placed it above the Bible in authority as I had been led to believe it.

Those Mormon missionaries who knock at your door will tell you that the Book of Mormon was prophesied in the Bible to appear. This is not true. Mormonism is mentioned in the Bible (not by name of course). Matthew chapter 7 verse 15 onwards: "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly they are ferocious wolves..." They look good but inwardly they will steal your salvation.

Another reference is a specific warning of the Mormons. This is Jesus speaking of the last days (i.e., now): "At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'There He is!' do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect (born again Christians) if it were possible. See I have told you ahead of time. So if anyone tells you, 'There He is, out in the desert,' do not go out, or, 'Here He is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it..." (Matt 24: 23-26).

Frankly, it is difficult to imagine a plainer warning! As we will see shortly, the Mormons trekked all the way to the Utah desert because Brigham Young, the second Mormon leader, said the Christ was out there in the desert. He also said the Christ was in the inner rooms of the temple in Salt Lake City and other temples and thousands have been into the temples to take curses on themselves but seem blissfully unaware.

As you will see, one of the most difficult problems when communicating with a Mormon is that they use Christian terms which mean something quite different. For example the Mormon "Jesus" is the spirit brother of lucifer and who is working out his own salvation and one day may become a god! Whereas the Jesus of the Bible is the only Almighty God, Creator of the universe, manifest in human form. "Salvation" to a Mormon is a plan that has to be worked through to enable the Mormon men to become a god and women a goddess through "Celestial" marriage (one of many wives). Whereas salvation in Christian terms is our unearned and undeserving redemption by the grace of God and through Jesus, our Redeemer. There are many more examples but more later! Any Mormon reading this will say "rubbish" but that's because they do not know any better.

That's the problem with deception - you don't know when you're deceived, otherwise you wouldn't be deceived, would you?

Mormonism teaches that God was once a man but on another earth. They believe He has another god above Him and so on. The second President of the Church, Brigham Young, declared Adam was God the Father! They claim God married countless numbers of wives and that the Mormon Jesus and the devil are the result of one of those unions. They claim the devil is also our spirit brother and could well have become the saviour of the world but the vote in the Mormon heaven went the other way. They believe God the Father came down to earth to have physical relations with his daughter Mary to father Jesus, therefore there was no virgin birth. They believe when the Mormon god and Jesus judge the world, that Joseph Smith will be right along side them and he will have the final say!! Smith claimed he had done more for the world than Jesus. He claimed the moon had broken off the earth at the pacific ocean (a scientific impossibility), that men had gone with it and lived there now dressed like Quakers of old! He claimed the American Indians are descended from the Jews! Believe me, "You ain't seen nothin' yet!"

I am not anti Mormon but I am anti Mormonism and my heart bleeds for such lovely friends who are trapped in it. Let us now see what I found out about real Mormonism, why I left the Mormon Church and where you can verify what I am saying:

OUTLINE OF MORMON DOCTRINE:

It is necessary to outline Mormon doctrine now to enable you to understand it's deception. If you are familiar with it then proceed directly to the next section

Joseph Smith claimed in his "first vision" that he saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ and they were two distinct men of flesh and bones. Amongst other things they supposedly told him not to join any other church as they were "an abomination". Later he claimed an angel called Moroni appeared to him. He showed him where some brass plates were hidden upon which was written the history of the ancient Americans and written in "reformed Egyptian". Smith is supposed to have translated these plates making today's Book of Mormon. The plates were then, "taken up to heaven".

THE BOOK OF MORMON people are supposed to be Jewish and a Jew named Lehi and his family journeyed from the Middle East across the Indian and Pacific oceans to Central America, hundreds of years BC. This original family split in two: The good side descended from Nephi and the bad side from Laman. The latter were given a red skin as punishment for their evil ways. The American Red Indians are supposed to be their descendants. Mormons call them Lamanites. Jesus is supposed to have appeared to the good Nephites after His resurrection. Later in the 5th century the Nephites were wiped out by the Lamanites.

SMITH claimed many resurrected Bible characters appeared to him and gave him their "authority". He founded the Mormon Church in 1830 introducing many "strange doctrines". In their temples (not to be confused with their local neighbourhood and harmless looking churches) Mormons baptise for their dead ancestors and marry for "time and all eternity". Smith taught that men can become gods themselves if their works on earth are good enough. They say; "As man is now, god once was, as god is now, man can become." Various ceremonies called "endowments" are performed in these temples to enable this to take place. One of these is the "Eternal" of "Celestial Marriage" to take place. Mormon men also believe they should have many wives but most do not practice it now as polygamy is against the law. However, they believe it will not be long before they are allowed to practice it again. A few still do. This "doctrine" enabled Smith to have an estimated 40 "wives" (as did Brigham Young). He was killed in a gun fight by an angry mob.

THE MORMON CHURCH SPLIT after Smith's death. They were driven out of their homes and the bulk of them trekked west to what is now Utah under the leadership of Brigham Young, their new President and "living prophet" where they built Salt Lake City. Here they built their first permanent temple to perform their "Celestial Marriages".

TODAY'S MORMON CHURCH is commercially a great success and the Corporation of the President of the Church is fabulously wealthy, far beyond the wildest dreams of most people and founded on Church members giving between 13% to 15% of their gross income to the Church. They proselyte the world over and have built many churches and temples.

By it's very nature this study draws on many original documents. I have re typed many making exact copies but I am unable to display the originals on the web site as it takes up too much memory which I would rather reserve for text.

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE MORMONS:

JOSEPH SMITH the founder of Mormonism, is portrayed as a clean cut American young man of impeccable character. It is certainly understandable that the Church paint this picture of him as on his integrity hangs the whole credibility of the Mormon Church. Therefore I make no apologies for concentrating mainly on his character and you will see he was quite the opposite.

THE TRIAL OF JOSEPH SMITH JNR.

Joseph Smith used his "seer stone" to locate buried treasure.  People, often poor, would come to him and pay him to locate treasure.  It was commonly known as "money digging" at the time.  Smith acquired quite a reputation for this activity, even though he was not very good at it by his own admission.  His "peep stone" activities got him into trouble with the law.

This record of Smith's trial was denied for many years by the Mormon Church.  After all it did not match the clean-cut image of Smith that they presented.  An account was initially published in Fraser's Magazine in 1873.  It was the people of the State of New York vs Joseph Smith Jnr. dated March 20th 1826 and held before Justice of the Peace, Albert Neeley, in Bainbridge, Chenango County, New York.  He was found guilty of the charges against him of being "disorderly and an impostor".

The Mormon church, of course, have tried to claim this "Bainbridge Record", as it is called, is not authentic.  They have always claimed that Judge Albert Neeley was not a judge in 1826.  They also claimed there was no official court record to corroborate the Fraser's account.

Mormon scholar Hugh Nibley said that if ever this court record could be shown to be authentic, it would be the most damning evidence in existence against Joseph Smith ("The Myth Makers".  Hugh Nibley).

Smith's damnation came in 1971 when researcher Wesley P Walters found in the storage vaults of Chenango County, New York, the official appointment papers of Judge Albert Neeley dated November 16th, 1825.  Walters also found there Judge Neeley's own records of the court costs in the 1826 trial of, "Joseph Smith the Glass Looker." All this confirmed authenticity of the "Bainbridge Record"and Smith's arrest, trial and conviction.  Incidentally all this occurred around the time Smith is supposed to have received the golden plates.  So we agree with you, Hugh Nibley, this is the most damning evidence against Smith.

We should realise that Smith's deception in this area was extensive.  He deceived gullible country folk into paying him a fee.  In 1966 when I joined the Mormon Church I remember asking where the seer stone was and was told it was in a safe in the Salt Lake City Temple.  I have no way of knowing whether this is true and many incredible rumours circulate around the Mormons to boost their faith.  Late Mormon President, Joseph Fielding Smith said in his book, "Doctrines of Salvation" that the seer stone was now in the possession of the Church.

The following is a copy of the transcript of the trial of Smith:

PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK vs JOSEPH SMITH JNR. Warrant issued upon oath of Peter G Bridgman, who informed that one Joseph Smith of Bainbridge was a disorderly person and an impostor. The prisoner was then brought into the court March 20th 1826.

Prisoner examined, Says that he came from the town of Palmyra, and had been at the house of Josiah Stowel in Bainbridge most of the time since. He had a small part of the time been employed in looking for mines, but the major part had been employed by said Stowel on his farm, and going to school; that he had a certain stone, which he had occasionally looked at to determine hidden treasures in the bowels of the earth were. That he professed to tell in this manner where gold mines were a distance under ground, and had looked for Mr Stowel several times, and informed him where he could find those treasures, and Mr Stowel had been engaged in digging for them; that at Palmyra he pretended to tell by looking at this stone, where coined money was buried in Pennsylvania, and while at Palmyra he had frequently ascertained in that way where lost property was, of various kinds; that he has occasionally been in the habit of looking through this stone to find lost property for three years, but of late had pretty much given it up on account its injuring his health, especially his eyes - made them sore; that he did not solicit business of this kind, and had always rather declined having anything to do with this business.

Josiah Stowel sworn. Says that the prisoner had been at his house something like five months. Had been employed by him to work on farm part of time; that he pretended to have the skill of telling where hidden treasures in the earth were, by means of looking through a certain stone; that the prisoner had looked for him sometimes, - once to tell him about money buried on Bend Mountain in Pennsylvania, once for gold on Monument Hill, and once for a salt spring, - and that he positively knew that the prisoner could tell, and professed the art of seeing those valuable treasures through the medium of said stone; that he found the digging part at Bend and Monument Hill as prisoner represented it; that the prisoner had looked through said stone for Deacon Attelon, for a mine - did not exactly find it, but got a piece of ore which resembled gold, he thinks; That prisoner had told by means of this stone where Mr Bacon had buried money; that he and the prisoner had been in search of it ; that the prisoner said that it was in a certain route of a stump five feet from the surface of the earth, and with it would be found a tail feather; that said Stowel and prisoner thereupon commenced digging, found a tail feather, but money was gone; That he supposed that money moved down; that prisoner did offer his services; that he never deceived him that prisoner looked through stone, and described Josiah Stowel's house and out houses while at Palmyra, at Simpson Stowel's correctly; that he had told about painted tree with man's hand painted upon it, by means of said stone; that he had been in company with prisoner digging for gold, and had the most implicit faith in the prisoner's skill.

Horace Stowel sworn. Says he see prisoner look into hat through stone, pretending to tell where a chest of dollars were buried in Windsor, a number of miles distant; marked out size of chest in the leaves on the ground.

Arad Stowel sworn. Says that he went to see whether prisoner could convince him that he possessed the skill that he professed to have, upon which laid a book upon a white cloth, and proposed looking through another stone which was white and transparent; hold the stone to the candle, turn his back to book, and read, The deception appeared so palpable that he went off disgusted.

McMaster sworn. Says he went with Arad Stowel to be convinced of prisoner's skill, and likewise came away disgusted, finding the deception so palpable. Prisoner pretended that he could discern objects at a distance by holding this white stone to the sun or candle; that prisoner declined looking into a hat at his dark colored stone, as he said it hurt his eyes.

Jonathan Thompson says that the prisoner was requested to look for Yeomans for chest of money; did look, and pretended to know where it was, and that prisoner, Thompson, and Yeomans went in search of it; that Smith arrived at spot first (was in night); that Smith looked in hat while there, and when very dark, and told how the chest was situated. After digging several feet, struck upon something sounding like a board or plank. Prisoner would not look again, pretended he was alarmed the last time he looked, on account of the circumstances relating to the trunk being buried came all fresh to his mind; that the last time that he looked, he discovered distinctly the two Indians who buried the trunk; that a quarrel ensued between them, and one of the said Indians was killed by the other, and thrown into the hole beside of the trunk, to guard it, as he supposed. Thompson says he believes in the prisoner's professed skill; that the board which he struck his spade upon was probably the chest, but, on account of an enchantment, the trunk kept settling away from under them while digging; that, notwithstanding they continued constantly removing the dirt, yet the trunk kept about the same distance from them. Says prisoner said that it appeared to him that salt might be found at Bainbridge; and he is certain that prisoner can divine things by means of said stone and hat; that, as evidence of fact, prisoner looked into his hat to tell him about some money witness lost sixteen years ago, and he described the man that witness supposed had taken it, and disposition of money.

And thereupon the Court finds the defendant guilty.

It is so important to help us establish the character of Smith. This is the man who claims he will sit in judgment upon the whole earth with God himself and have the final say!

SWORN STATEMENTS AS TO THE CHARACTER OF JOSEPH SMITH JNR

WILLARD CHASE employed Joseph and brother Alvin Smith in 1822 to help him dig a well whereupon he found an unusual stone. Smith ceased it and put it in his hat, then his face on top of his hat. Then he began to, "publish abroad what wonders he could discover by looking in it." In June 1822 he says Smith Snr. related to him that a spirit had appeared to his son and he had to get some gold plates but he had to dress in black and ride a black horse. This he did but this spirit prevented him from taking the gold plates by hitting him on the side of the head. In September 1822 he told Chase he would be getting the plates and promised him a share in the profits if he would make him a chest to carry them in. Chase said he could not. Later Smith told Chase he had got the golden plates but told a neighbour he had not got them nor "never had such an one" but had told Chase to deceive "that damned fool", meaning Chase, to get him to make a chest for his moving to Pennsylvania. Chase said his neighbour was disgusted with his foolish stories.

ISAAC HALE, Harmony, Pa March 20th 1834: He first knew Smith in 1825 and says he was a "money digger" and "his occupation was that of seeing, or pretending to see by means of a stone placed in his hat" thus "he pretended to discover minerals and hidden treasure". Hale says Smith was a "careless young man" and "very saucy and insolent to his father". Smith and a team of "money diggers" boarded at Hale's house and on November 17th 1825 left not paying his bill of $12.68 which is still unpaid. Smith then carried off his daughter Emma to the state of New York and married her. Later they returned and Smith said he had given up glass looking. Later he brought a box to Hale's house saying inside it were some gold plates but refused to let him see them. Hale told him he would not have anything in his house he could not see so Smith hid the box in the woods. Smith told Hale he could read what was on the plates by looking into his hat. He then says that in his opinion that the "so called Book of Mormon is a silly fabrication of falsehood and wickedness, got up for speculation and with a design to dupe the credulous and unwary and in order that it's fabricators may live upon the spoils of those who swallow the deception".

JOSEPH CAPRON states he became acquainted with Smith Snr. in 1827. Since then he says, "They have been a peculiar people - fond of the foolish and the marvellous - at one time addicted to vice and the grossest immoralities - at another time making the highest pretensions to piety and holy intercourse with Almighty God". He says Joe Jnr would place a stone in his hat and claimed to be able to see anything he wished. He claimed he discovered ghosts, infernal spirits, mountains of gold and silver deposited in the earth. He says Smith claimed he discovered a chest of gold watches but they were in the possession of the evil spirit. They drew a circle with a sword on the ground around the dig and many dug all night but found nothing. Later Smith claimed he had some gold plates but told him nothing of their religious character. He simply told him it was speculation and said he "when it is completed, my family will be placed on a level above the generality of mankind".

PETER INGERSOLL says he first met Smith Snr. in 1822 and lived near by. The families general employment was digging for money. Smith Snr. told him the best time for digging for money was in the heat of the sun as it caused the chests to come nearer the surface. He also said the ancient inhabitants of this country used camels and he had discovered "an immense value of gold and silver..." He goes on to say he was hired by Joe Jnr in August 1827 to move his wife's furniture up to Manchester, where his wife then was. "When I arrived at Mr. Hale's house in Harmoney, Pa. from which place he had taken his wife, a scene presented itself...His father in law Mr Hale addressed Joseph in a flood of tears: 'You have stolen my daughter and married her. I had much rather have followed her to her grave. You spend your time digging for money - pretend to see a stone, and thus try to deceive people.' Joseph wept and acknowledged he could not see in a stone now, nor ever could; and his former pretensions in that respect were all false. He promised to give up his old habits..." However he did not give them up. Smith told him a while after that he had found some white sand on his way home. Ingersoll quotes Joseph Smith Jnr. as follows:

"As I was passing yesterday across the woods after a heavy shower of rain, I found in a hollow, some beautiful white sand, that had been washed up by the water. I took of my frock and tied up several quarts of it and then went home. On my entering the house I found the family at the table eating dinner. They were all anxious to know the contents of my frock. At that moment I happened to think of what I had heard about a history found in Canada called the Golden Bible; so I very gravely told them it was the Golden Bible. To my surprise they were credulous enough to believe what I had said. Accordingly I told them I had received a commandment to let no one see it, for, says I, no man can see it with the naked eye and live. However, I offered to take out the book and show it to them but they refused to see it and left the room. I have got the damn fools fixed and I will carry out the fun."

Ingersoll then says Smith told him he had no such book and that there was never any such book yet he told him he went to Willard Chase's to get him to make a chest in which he might deposit the Golden Bible. But as Chase would not do it he made the box himself of clap boards and put it into a pillow case and allowed the people only to lift it and feel of it through the case.

WILLIAM STAFFORD says he was first acquainted with Smith Snr. in 1820. They lived in Palmyra and were money diggers. They dug at night as the money was most easily obtained then. I have heard them tell marvellous tales of discoveries. They said there were local hills thrown up by hand which hid barrels of gold and silver, gold candle sticks, swords, large gold bars, silver plates and he could see all these things by looking into his hat at the stone. He could also discover the spirits in whose charge these treasures were, clothed in ancient dress. He says he gave them a black sheep on request as they claimed they had discovered a remarkable treasure which could only be procured by one method owing to the spirits. They cut the throat of the sheep and led it around in a circle while bleeding which appeased the wrath of the evil spirit. They believe the treasures could then be obtained. He says his share was to be four fold. However they claimed there was some mistake in the process and no treasure was obtained.

ABIGAIL HARRIS says in the early part of the winter of 1828 she made a visit to Martin Harris (a co-conspirator with Smith Jnr.) where Mr and Mrs Smith Snr. said Joe Jnr. really had discovered golden plates and that he was in Harmony Pa. translating them. Mrs Smith said they were so heavy it would take four stout men to lift them. They were going to exhibit the plates at 25 cents per person which would bring in an enormous amount of money. She said the second month following, Martin Harris and his wife were at her house. His wife said she wished her would quit the Mormonites and she said it was all false and a delusion. Mr Harris said; "What if it is a lie; if you will let me alone I will make money out of it!" She says she was an eye and ear witness to what had been stated above and, "I give it to the world for the good of mankind I speak the truth and lie not, God bearing me witness." (Martin Harris is published as a key witness to the truth of the Book of Mormon by Smith)

LUCY HARRIS says her husband, Martin Harris, was once industrious, attentive to his domestic concerns and thought to be worth about $10,000. He is now quick in his temper and in his mad fits frequently abuses all who oppose him. She has suffered by his unreasonable conduct. When she lived with him he has whipped her, kicked her and turned her out of the house. Because she would not give credit to the reports about the golden plates, Harris became more austere towards her. In one of his rages he struck her with the but end of a whip. She says; "Whether the Mormon religion be true or false, I leave the world to judge, for it's effects upon Martin Harris have been to make him more cross, turbulent and abusive to me."

STATEMENT SIGNED BY 51 RESIDENTS OF PALMYRA, NY states that they have no hesitation in saying that they consider the Smith family destitute of that moral character which ought to entitle them to the confidence of any community. They were famous for visionary projects and spent their time digging for treasure which they pretended was hid in the earth. Smith Snr. and Jnr. were in particular considered entirely destitute of moral character and addicted to vicious habits. D. P. HURLBUT collected more than 100 sworn statements from former friends and neighbours of the Smith family in 1833.

Any spiritually aware Christian will tell you after reading the above sworn testimonies that Joseph Smith was an occultist heavily involved in divination.  A CLASSIC CASE!  Mormons themselves are blissfully unaware of spiritual warfare - blinded by the devil.

Time and again his neighbours tell of his dishonesty. He was a trickster who, instead of doing an honest days work, continually and obsessively tried to get rich quick by digging for treasure. When he did not find this treasure he made up a story of gold plates. He persuaded his questionable friends to support him and they claimed having seen the plates with a view to making money.

99.9% of Mormons will know nothing of the true character and background of Joseph Smith Jnr. They will only read and hear the official sanitised version.  The Mormon Church presents Smith as a Christ-like individual but the average Mormon is cloistered in their knowledge of him.  Mormon manuals are of little value to anyone who seeks the truth.  Smith could not possibly have been the prophet of God he claimed to be, as you will see.

WOULD YOU STAKE YOUR ETERNAL SALVATION ON THIS MAN RATHER THAN THE REAL JESUS? We all know there is a great deal of deception in the world with many false religions, cults, crack pots, rejects and loony tunes, some of which have been around thousands of years and others only a few years and Mormonism on the surface seems plausible, it fooled me. Not until we dig deeper do we see it's true worth.

THE "FIRST VISION":

Joseph Smith Jnr was born in 1805. The Mormon Church claim in 1820 he was moved by revival in Palmyra, New York State where he lived at the time. They claim this "pure" boy of 15 years prayed to see which church he should join. The official version of this "First Vision" was written in 1838 whilst he was living in Far West, Missouri, 18 years after it is supposed to have happened.  Smith's friend, Orson Pratt published an account to this vision in his book, "Remarkable Visions" and then Smith himself published his account of the two gods finally in 1842.  Before 1838 there is no record of Smith's supposed first vision, yet he says he was greatly persecuted because of it but no one even knew about it until 18 years later!

I am not going to quote at length from this official account as I assume the reader will have read it.

Before we discuss this account I quote President Gordon B Hinckley,  "Prophet, Seer and Revelator" and therefore whose pronouncements the Mormons regard as from God Himself, stated in "The Salt Lake Tribune" on 7th October 2002 (page A6):  "Our whole strength rests on the validity of that vision... It either occurred or it did not occur.  If it did not, then this work is a fraud.  If it did, then it is the most wonderful and important work under the heavens."
This is a restatement of early Presidents of the Mormon Church:

Heber J Grant, President of the Church from 1918 to 1945 said: "If he (Joseph Smith) did not have that interview with God and Jesus Christ, the whole Mormon fabric is a failure and a fraud; it is not worth anything on earth." ("Doctrines of Salvation" 1954, page 188).

Joseph Fielding Smith, a descendent of Joseph Smith Jnr. and 10th President of the Mormon Church said that: "Mormonism, as it is called, must stand or fall on the story of Joseph Smith. He was either a prophet of God, divinely called, properly appointed and commissioned, or he was one of the biggest frauds this world has ever seen. There is no middle ground." ("Doctrines of Salvation as above).

John A Widstow, a Mormon Apostle commented: "Upon it's reality rests the truth and validity of his (Joseph Smith's) work." ("Joseph Smith, Seeker After Truth." page 19).  There are many more similar quotations but I'm sure you will agree with these statements anyway!

These statements are my authority for examining the character of Joseph Smith.  If he told the truth "It is the most wonderful and important work under heaven" - if he lied "Then the work is a fraud".  I am sure you, the reader will be just as keen to know the truth too, as your whole salvation rests on it.  If he was a fraud then the real Jesus will not save you - it is that simple!

IN HIS 1838 OFFICIAL ACCOUNT Smith claims that when he prayed; "...Early in the spring of 1820 I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head... When the light rested upon me I saw two personages (whose brightness and glory defy all description) standing above me in the air. One of them spoke to me calling me by name and said, (pointing to the other) 'This is my beloved Son, hear him.'... I asked... Which of all the sects was right (for it had never entered my heart that all were wrong)... I was answered that I must join none of them for they were all wrong... and all their creeds were an abomination in his sight..." Meaning the power and authority had been taken away in the first century AD. The true gospel of Jesus Christ was totally lost! ("Times and Seasons" vol 3, pages 728 and 748 - also "Pearl of Great Price: Joseph Smith 2: 14-20). On September 23rd, 1823 he further claims that an angel called Moroni appeared to him and told him of the golden plates. Four years later he was allowed to receive them.

IN HIS 1832 ACCOUNT AND THE ONLY ONE WRITTEN IN HIS OWN HAND, HE STATES THAT, "...And I saw the Lord and he spoke unto me saying, Joseph my son, thy sins are forgiven thee...behold I am the Lord of glory. I was crucified for the world that all those who believe in my name may have eternal life..." (Brigham Young University Studies, Spring 1969 pages 277/8).

We can see here that the official 1838 account disagrees with the 1832 account. Smith says he saw God the Father and Jesus Christ in the official account but just Jesus in the 1832 account! Surely such a momentous event would have been clear in his mind!

IN HIS 1832 ACCOUNT he also contradicts official Mormon doctrine which is salvation by works. One can only have eternal life (the Mormon meaning of this is life with the Eternal One - not necessarily for eternity) through good works and not by faith alone. Yet here we read that Jesus told him that all those who believe in Him will have eternal life!

FURTHER IN HIS 1832 ACCOUNT Smith writes: "...By searching the scriptures I found mankind did not come unto the Lord but they had apostatised from the true and living faith and there was no society or denomination that built upon the gospel of Jesus Christ as recorded in the new testament."

Here we read another contradiction. In his 1838 version he says: "...It had never entered my heart that all were wrong..." Yet in 1832 he says he had searched the scriptures and found mankind had apostatised from the truth! Which is it? Did he discover it by reading the Bible or did Jesus tell him? In the 1832 version it is the reading of the Bible that stirs him yet in the 1838 version the revival motivates him! Dishonesty requires a good memory! There is another version:

IN HIS 1835 VERSION Smith writes: "...A personage appeared in the midst of a pillar of flame, which was spread all around and yet nothing consumed. Another personage appeared like unto the first, he said unto me thy sins are forgiven thee. He testified also unto me that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I saw many angels in this vision. I was about 14 years old when I received this first vision." (BYU studies, Spring 1969, page 283). In this account nothing indicates the "personages" were God the Father and Jesus. The many angels not mentioned in the other versions, strongly suggests the message was delivered by angels.

Here are three different accounts of the same event. Surely this entitles us to question Smith's honesty and integrity. It would seem to support the testimonials already quoted in this study. Do you think this is a man you could trust with your salvation?

David O. McKay, another President of the Mormons said: "The appearing of the Father and the Son to Joseph Smith is the foundation of the Church."("Gospel Ideals", 1953, page 85).

THE 1820 REVIVAL which Smith claims took place and motivated him into questioning the various denominational doctrines, didn't take place until 1824 according to their records.  He claimed "great multitudes" joined the various churches. Oliver Cowdery, an early associate of Smith's who left the Mormon church declaring it to be false, puts the date of the revival at 1823 ("Messenger and Advocate" Vol, page 78). He says the revival began with Rev. Lane and the Methodists in "Palmyra and vicinity" and according to his version, Smith was stirred at 17. Lane says the revival was in 1824. There is no reference to revival in the "Methodist Magazine" between 1818 and 1821. Surely if "great multitudes" joined they would have at the very least mentioned it. Indeed according to their annual conference of 1820 they were losing membership.

THERE WAS NO 1820 REVIVAL as Smith claimed!  Wesley P Walters did a great deal of research in the records of local churches and wrote a well known pamphlet called, "New Light On Mormon Origins From The Palmyra (N.Y.) Revival".  He found no evidence of anything like a revival in the Methodists, Baptists and Presbyterians in the Palmyra area in 1820.  However he did find evidence of revivals in local churches in 1817, 1824 and 1829.

THE REV. BENJAMIN B. STOCKTON preached at the funeral of Alvin, Joseph's brother. Stockton was installed Pastor of Palmyra Presbyterian Church on February 16th 1824. William Smith, another brother, said Stockton preached in the revival of 1824/5. Lucy Smith, Joseph's mother, wrote in the first draft of "Lucy Smith's History" that the revival followed the death of her son Alvin. "About this time there was a great revival in religion and the whole neighborhood was aroused to the subject and we among the rest flocked to the meeting house to see if there was a word of comfort for us that might relieve our over charged feelings." It is on record that Joseph's mother, sister and two brothers joined the Presbyterian Church in Palmyra early in 1825.

They did not join in 1820 as the Mormon official version implies!

LUCY SMITH'S FIRST DRAFT also makes it clear she knew nothing of the 1820 version. She traces the beginning of Mormonism to the bedroom visit by an angel, the same as Oliver Cowdery had done. At least a dozen newspapers report the revival of the winter of 1824/5 and church records show a great increase in membership of that time. No church can be seen to have added "great multitudes" to their membership in the Palmyra district in 1820.

THE BAPTIST Pastor in Bristol, NY, wrote in the "American Baptist Magazine" in 1825 that about 300 have joined the three churches mentioned here in 1824/5. In looking at the 1820 records they report six having joined and two losses!

THE SO CALLED PERSECUTION OF JOSEPH SMITH by all the churches in his area, "...because I continued to affirm I had seen a vision." claimed in the official version is not on record either. No one seems to have heard of Smith's vision before 1838. ("Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought." Fall 1966, page 30).

CONCLUSION SO FAR:

Joseph Smith Jnr. according to many who knew him well is branded dishonest and of questionable character, ready to make a quick dollar rather than do an honest days work. He obviously had a highly imaginative mind and was known for his tall stories. The claims he makes, when examined carefully, are full of contradictions. This is the man who said he would have the final say on judgement day! You have to decided who you trust, Jesus Christ or Joseph Smith Jnr.!

We will shortly see more of his character when we look more carefully at his "married" life.

SMITH'S CLAIMS DO NOT MATCH UP WITH THE BIBLE:

This tends not to trouble Mormons too much as they regard The Book of Mormon superior. However, Numbers 23:19 says God is not a man. John 4:24 says God is a spirit and Jesus taught that a spirit does not have flesh and bones (Luke 24:39). John 1:18 says no one has seen God at any time. Smith said the true gospel was taken from the earth in the first century AD but Isaiah 9:7 says there will be no end to the increase in Christ's government and there will be no end to His kingdom (Luke 1:33). Jesus said He would build His church and the gates of hell would not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18). Smith said hell did prevail against it the Church of Jesus - HE'S CALLING JESUS A LIAR! Who do you believe?

THE MORMON PRIESTHOOD:

Mormons claim the early Christian church contained all the same teachings the Mormons believe today.  This includes all the temple doctrines.  They believe the priesthood authority, true doctrines and scriptures were lost through this great apostasy.  They believe that any baptism performed outside the Mormon church, God will not recognise.  Not until the priesthood was restored was mankind able to receive such blessings.

As a Mormon male one progresses through the Aaronic to the Melchizedeck priesthood. Smith and Cowdery were supposed to be ordained into the Aaronic priesthood by a resurrected John the Baptist on 15th May 1829 but although a Levite, he never held that priesthood. Peter, James and John likewise are supposed to have restored the higher, or "Melchizedeck" priesthood but they could never have held the Aaronic priesthood as they were not Levites! These two facts show up the Mormon deception and their "authoritative" priesthood defunct!

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE BOOK OF MORMON:

Let us now look at the book of Mormon which he produced. Is it all he claims? Here are some facts which would set the open minded reader thinking:

THE GOLDEN PLATES:

The official Mormon illustrations show Joseph Smith kneeling before an angel with arms outstretched receiving the gold plates.  This is impossible! Smith tells us the gold plates measured 7 inches by 8 inches forming a block 6 inches thick. This is 6 x 7 x 8 = 336 cubic inches or .19444 cubic feet. Gold weighs 1204.7256 pounds per cubic foot so if we multiply this figure by .19444 we see the weight of the of the gold plates the angel is supposed to have handed to him weighed a staggering 234 pounds or 16.7142 stones, the weight of a big man. Yet Smith's mother says in her book, "Joseph Smith's History by His Mother" pages 104/5, he placed the plates in his frock (strong material!) and ran home three miles fighting off three separate attackers! Of course Smith wouldn't have known the weight of gold when he concocted his story. Enough said!  Do you really think Smith was telling the truth?  THIS ALONE IS ENOUGH TO PROVE MORMONISM FALSE!

THE LANGUAGE OF THE GOLDEN PLATES was supposed to be "Reformed Egyptian" (whatever that is!). Of course he could not say Egyptian or some other known language in case he was tested on it! This is another warning sign. The Book of Mormon was supposed to be the sacred writings of the Jewish people who relocated from Jerusalem to the western shores of present day America in 600 BC. Egyptian was a cursed language to the Jews! In all the manuscripts that have ever been found, and there a very many, no Hebrew scriptures have ever been found written in Egyptian by Jews for Jews, "reformed" or otherwise. Those who traffic with Egypt were cursed. They were enemies. Ask yourself:   Does it make sense for a people to write down their sacred text in the language of their enemy? Surely they would write it in their own language - Hebrew! That was the language of most of the Old Testament.

Smith is supposed to have copied some of these "Reformed Egyptian" hieroglyphics and taken them to Professor Charles Anthon, LLD at Columbia University. The Mormons make great play of saying he pronounced them genuine, then changed his mind according to Smith, when he told him where they were supposed to have come from. Professor Anthon says he thought it was a trick. Anthon said  in a letter he wrote to E.D. Howe on February 17th, 1834 that the paper consisted of all kinds of crooked characters.  He says quite specifically that the claim that he pronounced these squiggles on the paper genuine "...is perfectly false".  I have a copy of the letter.

A GREAT CIVILISATION grew with 38 major cities and temples built over a thousand years from 600 BC to 400 AD so the Book of Mormon tells us. Archaeologists should have been able to uncovered many remains and items to confirm the great events that are supposed to have taken place. As in the Bible lands they would be able to see ruins of these great cities. Many great battles are told of, one of which located on the Hill Comorah where Smith supposedly found the golden plates. Half a million fighting men are supposed to have fought and died here in 385 AD.  All manner of weapons are supposed to have been used. This site alone would show great archaeological finds of this greatest of all battles fought on American soil. There would be spears, swords daggers, arrowheads, remains of clothing such as buttons. Where can we view these great finds? Alas, nowhere. Why? Because not even a single button has been discovered. Not a spear, a sword or (to use Smith's 'holy' language) "anything like unto it!". Now isn't that strange?

According to the Book of Mormon, gold, silver and other coins were used (Alma 11: 4-19). Horses and chariots (Alma 18:9 and 20:6, 3 Nephi 3:22). Grain, silks, cattle, oxen, cows, sheep, swine, goats, horses, ass and elephants (Ether 9: 17-19). "...Tens of thousands of Lamanites were slain," also, "tremendous slaughter among the people of Nephi..." (Alma 28: 2-3. "...Tens of thousands of Nephites slain." (Mormon 6: 10-15). "...Two million Jaradites slain..." (Ether 15: 2). "...Many great and notable cities were sunk and many were burned and many were shaken till the buildings thereof had fallen to the earth..." (3 Nephi 8: 14). There are many others. Where is all the archaeological evidence for this? None!

THE SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION has consistently denied the Book of Mormon has been any use to them in their archaeological research into the ethnic Americans. In spite of this rumours in the Mormon Church have abounded.

Ask any Missionary and they will say they have found it of great value. It is thought the Institution continually prove the book to be genuine.

In the 1960s and 1970s when I was a member the rumours persisted and were never denied by the Mormon Presidency. I am informed this is still the case. Of course it suited the Mormons to let the rumour circulate. Grass root Mormons were more than eager to grasp at any straw in their attempts to convince others.

I have a copy of a letter from Arthur Budvarson to Dr. Roberts of the Institution and his reply. This letter is dated September 30th, 1958. It can easily be seen that they find the Book of Mormon no use whatsoever and do not use it.

Write to the Smithsonion Institution yourself at the Bureau of American Ethnology, Washington 25, D.C.

Think about it! The Book of Mormon claims it establishes the ethnology of the ancient Americans. If this is the case then practically every archaeological discovery made on the American continent which dates from 2000 BC to 400 AD will prove the Book of Mormon true or false. (The book claims the Jaredites landed on the continent in 2000 BC) Yet the Smithsonian Institution say the archaeological data proves the Book of Mormon to be fiction! Here are extracts from three other letters:

December 18th, 1946: "There is no correspondence whatever between the archaeological sites and cultures as revealed by scientific investigations and as recorded in the Book of Mormon. The interpretations of archaeological and ethnographic data, moreover, are quite unlike the American pre history which the Book of Mormon describes..."

February 11th, 1951: "...The mistaken idea that the Book of Mormon has been used by scientific organisations in conducting archaeological explorations has become quite current in recent years. It can be stated definitely that there is no connection between the archaeology of the New World and the subject matter of the Book of Mormon."

November 14, 1956: "The Smithsonian Institution has never used the Book of Mormon in any way as a scientific guide. Smithsonian archaeologists see no connection between the archaeology of the New World and the subject matter of the Book of Mormon... We know of no authentic cases of ancient Egyptian or Hebrew writings having been found in the New World."

You see the Book of Mormon represents the ancient inhabitants of America as having an iron age culture. The truth is that archaeology has shown them to have only developed to a polished stone age level until the coming of the white man.

THE BOOK OF MORMON IS PROVED TO BE FALSE!

I have a letter from Professor Steve Jones of University College London, a geneticist who has made a special study of the American Indian's roots. He says; "..Their genes ... show close ties with Siberians and even Japanese.  He states there is no link at all with Israel."

DID THAT REGISTER WITH YOU?  THERE ARE NO JEWISH GENES TO BE FOUND IN THE AMERICAN INDIANS!  YET THE MORMONS CLAIM THEY'RE DESCENDED FROM THE JEWS.  THIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF THE BOOK OF MORMON STORY.  THIS MEANS THE BOOK OF MORMON IS FALSE! THIS MEANS MORMONISM IS A LIE!  NO MORE PROOF IS NEEDED!  HOWEVER, THERE  IS EVEN MORE PROOF:

If you are a Mormon, as I was, you have to believe the American Indians are really the descendants of a Jew named Lehi (the Book of Mormon people).  For this to be true Jewish DNA will be present in today's native Americans.  If it is not present - the Book of Mormon is false and the founder, Joseph Smith, lied.  Therefore the Mormon Church is false, a deception - agreed?  Don't skip over that, in all honesty you must agree!  It is the whole foundation of the Mormon Church.

EXTENSIVE RESEARCH has been completed taking DNA from tribes THROUGHOUT the American continent from the Arctic to the southern tip of South America.   It has been found that native Americans came from East Asia.  None of them have Jewish DNA!  99.4% of them have DNA showing their ancestors originate mainly from Siberia and some from Mongolia  (The remaining 0.6% had DNA from Europe acquired post 1492).

WHO CARRIED OUT THE RESEARCH?  Yes, it was Mormon Scientists!  All highly respected in their own field.  Amongst them are:
Randall Shortridge Ph.D. molecular biologist, University at Buffalo (NY).
Thomas Murphy, Mormon anthropologist and scholar.
Simon Southern, Ph.D. molecular biologist and former Bishop.
Trent Stephens, Ph.D. Idaho State University, biologist and Mormon scholar.
Dr. David Glenn Smith, molecular anthropologist, University of California, Davis.
Dr. Dennis O'Rourke, molecular anthropologist, University of Utah.
Dr. Stephen L Whittington, anthropologist and leading expert on genetics of Central America, University of Maine.
Dr. John McLaughton, Linguist, Utah State University.

"We have a problem...." said Thomas Murphy.  Another said, "This DNA evidence today would prove Joseph Smith a liar."  It would be an open and shut case of fraud!  The above have either left the Mormon Church or considering their position.

When confronted by this evidence by German TV, Mormon President, Gordon B Hinkley said, "It hasn't been determined yet.  It is speculation.  No one really knows!"  WELL, THAT IS AS DISHONEST AS JOSEPH SMITH'S BOOK OF MORMON!

You can find out where you can obtain more evidence, including obtaining a video of these Mormon scientists wrestling with there dilemma, seeing President Hinkley denying the truth and links to web sites, click here.

THE BOOK OF MORMON IS REALLY A 19TH CENTURY PIECE OF FICTION!

There is one piece of truth in the Book of Mormon. At the front of the original 1830 edition it states that the "author and proprietor" is Joseph Smith Jnr. In later editions this is changed to, "Translator of this work"!

It is claimed that Smith translated the Book of Mormon golden plates from the "reformed Egyptian" text with the aid of "divine spectacles". Smith told his neighbours these were "golden spectacles". He also said they were called the "Urim and Thummim", meaning light and perfection, but these were part of the Breastplate of Judgment worn by Aaron and subsequent High Priests in Israel. He is supposed to have translated the plates from behind a curtain looking through the "Urim and Thummim", dictating to his cousin Oliver Cowdery.  Ridiculous!  Read Exodus 28: 30 and Leviticus 8: 8:  These are believed to be flat precious stones kept in a pouch attached to the breastplate of the high priest.  After a time of prayer the stones would be shaken out of the pouch giving a yes or a no depending on which way they landed.  God was teaching the nation the principles of following Him. (Don't try it today!).  Not a small point either is that around 530 BC the high priests were still ministering with the Urim and Thumimim in Israel (Ezra 2: 63 and Neh. 7: 65) yet the Mormons claim Lehi left for America with the Book of Mormon people in 600 BC - They could not be in two places at once!

Analysing the actual text shows a friend of Smith's, Sidney Rigden, revised a lost manuscript of a fiction written by Solomon Spalding which Smith then further revised. One thing is certain - it is NOT a book written in the 5th century AD. Let us see why we know:

PLAGIARISM abounds. Whole sentences and chapters are taken from the King James Bible which was completed in 1611 totalling 27,000 words. Even words in italics in the KJ Bible are shown the same in the Book of Mormon! A further 298 direct quotations are taken from the New Testament!

The Book of Mormon is filled with phrases and words that are known to be entirely modern, for example; faculties, priest craft, barges, state of dilemma, immortal, baptise, church, Gentiles, Jews, Bible and Synagogue. Shakespeare is quoted! The French word; "Adieu" is found (really that is quite ridiculous!) Perhaps the most ridiculous of all is the expression, "etc" or "&c" which is the abbreviated form of the Latin "et cetera"!! (I have asked myself so many times, "However did I fall for such rubbish!?" But the truth is, I did not know about it in the early days.)

"OLD COME TO PASS". This is a nickname of Joseph Smith's because he uses the phrase, "And it came to pass" more than 2,000 times in the Book of Mormon supposedly spanning 1000 years! Presumably this made the text sound more holy!

THE TUDOR/EARLY STUART LANGUAGE of the Book of Mormon is also wrong. In 1820 -1830 Joseph Smith's style of speech would have been like those testimonies against him or, if you like, the language in which Jane Austen wrote.  The King James style language of the Book of Mormon was used over two hundred years before. This language is perceived by many "religious" people to be a "holy" style. It sounds pious. Clearly Smith wrote in this style to make his book down more "holy".

He also wrote his "personal revelations" in this style. You can see this in the "Book of Commandments", later renamed "Doctrine and Covenants". This applied to other books too. No wonder he was referred to as "Holy Joe" with whom the nickname originated.

B. .H. ROBERTS, the Mormon General Authority wrote in 1922 about many problems with the Book of Mormon. To my knowledge it is in three volumes and called; "Book of Mormon Difficulties". The first two manuscripts are with the University of Utah and the Concordia Seminary, St Louis. He admits the Lamanites could not possibly have had an iron age culture. The Book of Mormon also claims that the earlier Jaredites landed in 2,000 BC, "Where there never had man been" (Ether 2:5) and fought themselves to extinction.

In 600 BC the Nephites landed and settled in a land, "kept from all other nations". (2 Nephi 1: 9-11), which, incidentally, is a contradiction because of the afore mentioned Jaredites! From 600 BC it would not have allowed enough time for the 169 known New World languages, each with it's varying dialects to develop. Roberts confesses he has no answer to this: "...(We, the Mormons) have no ground for appeal or defence". He also acknowledges that the idea prevalent at the time of Smith that the American aborigines were descended from the ten lost tribes of Israel is "erroneous".

ROBERTS also examines other claims of the Book of Mormon. Lehi's three day journey from Jerusalem to the shores of the Red Sea - 170 miles on foot with women and children! Over 56 miles per day across the terrain of the Near East!! Roberts modestly puts it that this alone is proof of the origins of the Book of Mormon to be from an "untrained and imaginative mind".

He also asks how the Nephites found domesticated animals in America? "...The cow and the ox, and the ass, and the horse, and the goat and the wild goat," (1 Nephi 18: 25). This is not supported by archaeology. He also says in one instance 2,060 warriors fought a 13 year battle without one being killed!! (Alma 56: 58).

B. H. Roberts wrote a manuscript, "A Book of Mormon Study", in part 2, IV page 17 he says; "Is all this sober history... or is it a wonder tale of an immature mind, unconscious of what a test he is laying on human credulity when asking men to accept this narrative as solemn history?" This was a Mormon General Authority don't forget. One is bound to ask why he stayed so to his death? Why did he, like so many others, not leave the cult?  Was it that demonic spirit of fear that keeps many Mormons tied to their church?  This is fear of leaving the Church and spending eternity with the devil.  Well, let me tell you that Mormons are not saved.  To be saved from hell you need the real Jesus, not the Mormon counterfeit Jesus who is born out of Joseph Smith's imagination.  You cannot just invent a character, call him Jesus and then tell people your Jesus will save you!  This is one of the reasons the real Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 7:21).

THIS IS WHY MORMONISM IS FROM THE PIT OF HELL.  IT LEADS YOU TO BELIEVE YOU ARE SAVED. YOU FEEL SAFE WRAPPED IN A GOOD WAY OF LIVING BUT NO ORGANISATION CAN SAVE YOU - NEITHER CAN BELIEF IN A FALSE JESUS.  YOU LIVE A GOOD LIFE ONLY TO FIND WHEN YOU DIE THAT THE REAL JESUS WILL SAY TO YOU, "AWAY FROM ME, I NEVER KNEW YOU!"

SMITH'S SOURCE MATERIAL is the King James Bible. It is quite clear. If you have a Book of Mormon and a Bible compare these references: 1 Nephi 22:25 with Luke 3:16. 1 Nephi 10:8 with John 1:27. 1 Nephi 22:25 with John 10:16. Mosiah 18:21 with Ephesians 4:5. Alma 7:24 with 1 Corinthians 13:13. Alma 15:6 with Romans 1:16. Alma 41:11 with Ephesians 2:12. Actually there are over 200 such examples! Peter's paraphrase of Moses (Acts 3:22) in Deuteronomy 18:15-18 is mistakenly referred to as Moses' own words (1 Nephi 22:20). Thus Peter is quoted supposedly hundreds of years before he said the words! Do you realise that this single statement exposes the Book of Mormon to be a fraud! It is the same with the words of Malachi 4:1 which appear in 1 Nephi 22:15 over a hundred years before Malachi wrote them!

The Book of Mormon hopelessly mixes up the Old and New Covenants. Long before the Mormon Jesus was supposed to have appeared to the Nephites they were conversant with New Testament doctrines.

CHANGES TO THE BOOK OF MORMON: There have been very many changes to the original Book of Mormon since 1830. There have been a staggering 4,000 of them! Mormons say they are just minor punctuation changes - No! If these were included there would be 11,000 of them! The only way is to compare these for yourself if you are a Mormon. You can still buy copies of the original 1830 edition but you will not be able to buy one from the Mormon church - they don't like them being around to read! Try writing to Reachout Trust, whose address is at the end of this study. They will help if they can.

TWO TESTIMONIES are included at the front of the original book witnessing to the truthfulness and genuineness of the book. One of these was of three witnesses all of whom turned their backs on the Mormon Church later in life! (Not much of a witness!) The second testimony was by eight witnesses, five of whom left the Mormon Church! We can therefore discard their testimonies - agreed?

A TESTIMONY is a specific wording to which a person puts his name - agreed? As the Book of Mormon has been changed this invalidates all their testimonies! Secondly, since their deaths the wording of their testimonies in the front of the book has been changed! This also invalidates their testimonies. Bit of a cheek, isn't it?

DAVID WHITMORE, one of the three key witnesses said in 1887 in an address to the, "All Believers in Christ" and I quote from page 12 referring to how the Book of Mormon was "translated" from the golden plates. (The "seer stone" referred to is the stone he found in the hole when digging for treasure in 1822 in Willard Chase's testimony quoted earlier):

"Joseph Smith would put his seer stone into his hat, drawing it closely around his face to exclude the light; and in the darkness the spiritual light would shine. A piece of something resembling parchment would appear, and on it would appear the writing. One character at a time would appear, and under it was the interpretation in English. Brother Joseph would read off the English to Oliver Cowdery, who was his principle scribe, and when it was written down and repeated to Brother Joseph to see if it was correct, then it would disappear and another character with the interpretation would appear. Thus the Book of Mormon was translated by the gift and power of God, and not by any power of man."

During my investigations as to the genuineness of the Book of Mormon all those years ago I read 1 Thessalonians 5:21 in the Bible which tells us to test everything. It is good advice as there is so much deception about. Here we have a specific description and it is easily tested:

Whitmore here is saying that supernaturally characters appeared to Smith, "by the gift and power of God". He describes in detail how this was done. Smith viewed the stone in his hat and the interpretation would appear. Cowdery would read it back and the Mormon god would approve it by only moving on to the next character if it was correct. Whitmore is very clear about this. THE MORMON GOD DID THE TRANSLATION. Well clearly the Mormon god needs to go back to school!

We take as an example page 25 of the original Book of Mormon (not the one you may have) I see THIRTEEN mistakes. These are typical of the 4,000 mistakes in the original book. Do check your original copy.  The mistakes are: Condescention instead of condescension, which instead of whom, of God instead of, of the Son of God, thet instead of that, chid instead of child, even the instead of even the Son of God, condescention instead of condescension, which instead of whom, which instead of who, baptise instead of baptize (the English spelling instead of the American spelling in correct use in America then), baptise instead of baptize (again), abode instead of abide, that instead of and. DON'T FORGET IT WAS THE MORMON GOD WHO APPROVED THIS, NOT COWDERY!

MARTIN HARRIS, another key witness and who, you will remember, admitted to his wife that the Book of Mormon was a "lie", told Elder Edward Stevenson in a letter to "Deseret News" (George Reyolds, "Myth of a Manuscript", 1883 page 91) how Joseph Smith translated the golden plates:

"By aid of the seer stone, sentences would appear and were read by the prophet and written by Martin, and when finished he would say, 'written', and if correctly written that sentence would disappear and another appeared in it's place, but if not written correctly it remained until corrected..."

"...But if not written correctly it remained until corrected..." It looks as if either:

1. The Mormon god approved the mistakes.

2. He did not know the scribes had made the mistakes.

3. He did not realise he (the Mormon god) had made mistakes himself.

4. That Smith, Harris and Cowdery were lying.

( I wonder which it is?)

DOES THE BOOK OF MORMON AGREE WITH MORMON TEACHING? - NO!

I realise this sounds ridiculous but we are dealing here with something that is ridiculous! There is another Book of Mormon "scripture", The Doctrine and Covenants in which Smith records "revelation" given to him by the Mormon god. In chapter 20:8-9 it says the Book of Mormon, "...contains... the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ." Again in 27:15 the Mormon god is saying, "I have sent unto you... the Book of Mormon, containing the fulness of my everlasting gospel..." These are two clear statements by Smith but supposedly from the Mormon god. He is saying the Book of Mormon contains all that is to be known about the gospel. This must mean that nothing is excluded from it - nothing can be added to it - agreed?

YET LATER THE FOLLOWING DOCTRINES WERE "REVEALED" IN THE DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS and others which are very important indeed to a Mormon and the Mormon doctrine:

1. Baptism for the dead - D&C 128.

2. The Word of Wisdom - D&C 89.

3. Priesthood - D&C 107.

4. Men can become gods. Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, page 8&9.

5. Plurality of gods - Abraham 4:1.

6. Temple endowments.

7. Celestial marriage for eternity.

8. Plural marriage.

Not one of these are contained in the Book of Mormon that the Mormon god is supposed to have said did contain the FULNESS of the gospel.

SMITH CLAIMED AN ANGEL OF GOD PROTECTED THE BOOK OF MORMON. Yet 116 pages were stolen according to the preface to the original 1830 edition. We must assume the Mormon god has failed again! For this reason this admission is omitted from more modern versions!

THE BOOK OF MORMON SAYS: there is only one God, it is monotheistic. Ether 2:8 says; "...The true and only God". Alma 11 says; ".. Is there more than one God? And he answered, 'No'..."

Yet Smith said; "...In the beginning the head of the gods called a council of gods, and they came together to concoct a plan to create the world and the people in it." Again he said; "...And you have got to learn to be gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to god, the same as all gods have done before you." ("The Teaching of the Prophet Joseph Smith" by Joseph F. Smith page 349),

They're contradicting each other!

THE BOOK OF MORMON DOES NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT BAPTISM FOR THE DEAD! The Mormon Church both preaches and practices it. It is carried out as a "sacred" ordinance in the temples. The belief is that dead people in the next life can have a second chance and accept the Mormon gospel. As there is no water in the spirit world they say baptism by proxy has to be done on this earth. They can then accept of reject it in the next world.

However, the Bible says; "Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment..." (Hebrews 9:27). In other words there is no second chance.

THE BOOK OF MORMON CONTRADICTS OTHER MORMON "SCRIPTURES". Alma 18:28 says: God is a great spirit who created heaven and earth. D&C 130:22 says, "The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's."

Mosiah 3:18 says man is saved, "Though the atoning blood of Christ." D&C 76:52 says it is by keeping the commandments.

Alma 11:44 says; "..Christ the Son and God the Father and the Holy Spirit which is one eternal God..." Abraham 4:1 says; "Let us go down... and they, that is the Gods..."

We can see here major contradictions with the Mormon's own "scriptures". Is God a spirit or not? Are people saved by the blood of Jesus or by our own works? Is there one God or many?

JOSEPH SMITH'S TEACHING AND PRACTICE OF "CELESTIAL" POLYGAMOUS MARRIAGE.

Frankly, it has to be seen to be believed and I suggest you do your own research. I give addresses at the end of this study to help you.  We examine here this doctrine and why Smith introduced it.

We have to realise that this doctrine was formulated by a man who loved the ladies. To put it bluntly he wanted other women other than his own long suffering wife Emma but the Bible clearly states adultery is a sin.  To "avoid" this sin he invented another type of marriage, plural marriage so that he could take mistresses ad infinitum - and he did. I used to run business courses on, amongst other things, "lateral thinking for management" and frankly I can't think of a better example of lateral thinking than this!

Polygamy, or Plural Marriage as the Mormons like to call it, was practised by many of the Church leaders in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It is practised now by non mainstream Mormons. There are many "apostate" Mormon groups, that is according to the largest, the Utah group but it is true to say that the smaller groups would claim it is the large Utah Church that has apostatised. The Utah Church, based in Salt Lake City ceased this practice officially at the end of the 19th century so that the territory of Deseret, as it was then, could join the Union as the State of Utah.  Nevertheless it continued unofficially for many years afterwards.  Today there are many Mormon fundamentalist groups, some devoted to the founder, Joseph Smith, others claiming to be his true successor.

Actually, the Book of Mormon condemns plural marriage but this did not stop Joseph Smith! Jacob 1:15, 2:23-4 and 3:5 say the practice of desiring many wives such as David and Solomon is wicked. It says it is an abomination.

However, don't let them fool you. It is still official Mormon doctrine. A man cannot become a god without he practices it.  It is a very important part of Mormonism.

Hunter's "Gospel Truths Through the Ages" tells us; "If a man and woman obey all other laws of the gospel except that of Celestial Marriage, they are appointed angels in heaven, which angels are ministering servants to minister to those who are worthy of a far more and an exceeding and eternal weight of glory... Thus we see that Celestial Marriage is the crowning Gospel Ordinance."

Smith's "revelation" is quoted here in part from D&C 132: "...For behold I reveal unto you a new and everlasting covenant and if ye abide not this covenant ye are damned... If any man espouse and virgin and desire to espouse another, and the first give her consent, and if he espouse the second and they are virgins and they have vowed to no other man, then he is justified,; for he cannot commit adultery with that that belongeth to him and to no one else. And if he have ten virgins given to him by this law he cannot commit adultery, for they belong to him, and they are given unto him; therefore he is justified." (Given that many of his 'wives' were already married, how did they meet the criteria for "virgins"?)

Joseph Fielding Smith, a later "prophet" explains in "Doctrines of Salvation" vol. 2 page 76-77 that; It is the Mormon husband (not Jesus) who is given absolute power and authority to call his wives from the grave on the morning of the resurrection. He may choose to leave one or more of them rotting in her grave if they have not pleased him. You can see from this the hold a Mormon polygamous husband would have on his wives.

A MORMON HUSBAND IS GIVEN A NEW NAME as part of the temple "endowment" ceremony and his wife is given her new name also but known only to her and her husband (supposedly). On the morning of the resurrection the husband is called from the grave using his new name by the Mormon Jesus. Then the husband, if he chooses, calls his wife/wives from the grave with their new names, or leaves her/them where they are.

JESUS SAID; "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognise them... Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit... Thus by their fruit you will recognise them." (Matthew 7:15-20). It could not be plainer, could it?  Did Joseph Smith produce good fruit?

I can tell you there are many in the Mormon Church who have uncovered Smith's fruits and feel very uneasy about it.  It is not easy to come to terms with this early history and behaviour of Smith. The more you dig, the more doubtful you become. I used to defend Joseph Smith believing I was right. I really did believe he was a man who's character was unjustly smeared.  How wrong I was!

Now let us look at his relationships, most verifiable, to see whether he produced righteous fruits as Jesus said would happen to a genuine prophet:

JOSEPH SMITH'S 'MARRIAGES'.

One estimate by Thelma Geer is that Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, had around 100 'wives' between them but this is now known to be a conservative estimate.  We list here 53 wives of Smith's.  Young had more than Smith.  Thelma Geer's great grandfather, John D. Lee used to stand guard whilst they visited their wives. Lee himself was a minor player with only 19 wives and 64 children.

In listing Joseph Smith's wives here, we acknowledge that a few cannot be verified with documentation supporting a civil marriage but temple sealings to Smith were made.  5 of his wives were over 40 years and 11 were teenagers.  It is also viewed that older women were recruited to convert younger women to polygamy.  A number of his 'wives' were under the age of consent so that makes Smith a paedophile - agreed?

EMMA HALE was his first and only lawful wife whom he married 18th January 1827.  Squire Tarbuck Officiating.

FANNY ALGER, aged 16 years, married him in 1835 and was the first after Emma, his real wife. In a letter from Oliver Cowdery to his brother Warren dated Far West, Missouri, January 21, 1838 and can be seen in Huntington Library, San Marino, California, he describes his cousin Joseph Smith's, "...Dirty, nasty, filthy affair of his and Fanny Alger's..." and he says, "...I had never deserted from the truth in this matter, and as I supposed was admitted by himself (Smith)." In an attempt to list Smith's wives, Andrew Jenson thinks Fanny was one of the first after Emma. C.G Webb, Smith's grammar teacher in Kirkland, says in "Historical Record", Vol. 5, page 233 and vol. 8 page 942, "Joseph's dissolute life began already in the first times of the Church in Kirkland." Mormon's do not want to know of his debauched behaviour but it is there for all to see. The Bible says let he that has an ear, let him hear.  She later left Smith and married a non-LDS man, Solomon Custer.

Webb goes on to say; "He was sealed (i.e., married for time and all eternity) there (Kirkland temple) secretly to Fanny Alger. Emma was furious and drove the girl, who was unable to conceal the consequences of her celestial relations with the prophet, out of her house." This is also confirmed in "Mormon Portraits", page 57.

A YOUNG ORPHAN GIRL was the next. She was under the age of consent aged 15 years in the Spring of 1837. She temporary lived at the Smith home in Kirkland and was under Smith's protection but he seduced her. Fanny Brewer signed an affidavit in Boston on September 13th, 1842 saying "...There was much excitement against the prophet on another account, an unlawful intercourse between himself and a young orphan girl residing with his family and under his protection." - ("History of the Saints", John C. Bennet, page 85/6.

LUCINDA PENDLETON MORGAN HARRIS'S story is a little more complicated. It illustrates that Smith regarded other men's wives as his own property, committing adultery with them using his doctrine of celestial marriage to get away with it.  Bennet described Lucinda as a "very pretty and intelligent women". She was born in Virginia on September 27th, 1801, the daughter of Joseph Pendleton. Her first husband was William Morgan, a famous anti Masonic campaigner and later, Martyr. She married again to George Washington Harris which was reported in the "Arkansas Gazette" of January 12th, 1831. The newspaper made much of the fact that her new husband was a Freemason.

At this point you can be forgiven for getting confused with the love life of Smith and the Mormon marriage traditions. Smith married Lucinda in 1838 when she was 37 years old, according to, "The History of the Church" vol.3 page 9. He was living at the time at the Harris's home in Far West. But she is already married - I hear you cry! That is true but it didn't stop Smith. About a dozen of Smith's 'wives' were living in a polyandrous union, living with their husbands whilst, sometimes secretly and sometimes openly, having sexual relations with Joseph Smith.  Don't forget he could have a revelation from the Mormon god to overrule decent behaviour and help him out.  Mormons believed in him.  It is clear Harris knew nothing of this 'marriage' at the start. In fact it was just another nasty little adulterous affair as Lucinda was Smith's mistress in spite of the Mormon Churches attempts to dress it up as a marriage.

A report in ""Mormon Portraits", page 60, which, according to an interview W. Wyl had with Mrs Sarah Pratt (whom Smith had also tried to seduce in 1842!) says: "Mrs Harris was a married lady, a very great friend of mine. When Joseph had made his dastardly attempt on me, I went to Mrs Harris to unbosom my grief to her. To my utter astonishment, she said, laughing heartily; 'How foolish you are! Why, I am his mistress since four years.'"

Smith then moved to Nauvoo with his long suffering Emma. According to the, "History of the Church," vol. 3 page 362, they lived opposite Sarah Cleveland, another of Smith's "wives". The Harris family then moved to Nauvoo and Smith made sure they were also given a plot opposite his house and next door to Sarah's.

An interesting observation was made by B. W. Richmond which appeared in the "Chicago Times" and later reprinted in the "Deseret News" on November 27th, 1875. He noted at Smith's funeral: "A lady standing at the head of Joseph Smith's body, her face covered, and her whole frame convulsed with weeping. She was the widow of William Morgan, of Masonic memory... She is a short person, with light hair and very bright blue eyes, and a pleasant countenance."

How can it be that God fearing people can live like this? You have to understand the evil of Mormon doctrine. Smith was on his way to becoming a top god. He said he would judge the world with the Mormon god and the Mormon Jesus. Even he would have the final say. As the saying goes;  "We have to get past Joseph Smith after the judgment day!" He boasted; "I have more to boast than any man... I am the only man that has been able to keep the whole church together... Paul, John, Peter nor Jesus ever did..." - ("History of the Church", Vol. 6 Page 408/9.) YOU SEE SMITH REGARDED HIMSELF GREATER THAN JESUS. Small wonder Lucinda was sealed to Smith for time and all eternity in the Nauvoo Temple in January 1846 with HER HUSBAND STANDING PROXY! You see that meant she was on her way to becoming a TOP GODDESS because she had pleased Joseph Smith in his life time.

NANCY MARINDA JOHNSON HYDE (27 years) married Smith in 1839 (some evidence to say 1842) and was sealed to him in the Salt Lake City temple on 31st July 1857.  She was already married to Mormon apostle Orson Hyde but later she divorced him.

CLARISSA REED HANCOCK became his wife in 1840.

LOUISA BEAMAN (26 Years) was next and she married him on 5th April 1841 with Joseph B Noble officiating.

ZINA DIANTHA HUNTINGTON JACOBS (20 years) became Smith's next 'wife' on the 27th October 1841 with Dimick B. Huntington officiating.  She was a beautiful young woman, married only 7 months to Henry Jacobs.  After many attempts to persuade Zina to share her with her husband, Smith finally had to resort to "revelation" by telling her that an angel had stood over Smith and told him that if he did not establish polygamy, he would lose "his position and life".  She was a faithful Mormon lady who revered Joseph Smith as a messenger from God and she believed him.  She suddenly had Smith's life and death and his eternal position weighing on her shoulders!  She finally acquiesced.   She stayed with Henry for many years afer Smith's death.  However, Brigham Young married her in the Nauvoo temple polyandrously.  He then sent Henry on a two year mission to England and then began living with Zina himself!

PRESCINDIA HUNTINGTON BUELL'S (31 years) first husband was Norman Buell. Whilst she was married to him she became one of the celestial wives of Smith on 11th December 1841, Dimick B. Huntington officiating.  After his and Beull's death she became one of the wives of Heber C. Kimball, a later President and prophet of the Church.  Evidence of children born to Smith, other than through Emma, is hard to come by and well covered up (unlike those of Brigham Young's). However, Prescindia once stated to Mrs Mary Ettie Smith that she did not know whether Buell or Smith was the father of her son. She says she regarded this statement with due reserve until she saw a photograph of her son, Oliver Buell, which show an unmistakable likeness to other sons of Smith's born by Emma. ("Fifteen Years Among the Mormons", Mrs Ettie V Smith, New York 2nd Edition 1859, page 34)

SYLVIA SESSIONS LYON (23 years) whom he married in 1841.  She was already married to Windsor Lyon with whom she continued to live.  She was the daughter of Patty Sessions below.

AGNES MOULTON COOLBRITH (33 years) married Smith on 6th January 1842.  She was the widow of Don Carlos Smith, Josephs late brother.

PATTY BARTLETT SESSIONS (47) on 9th March 1842 with Willard Richards officiating.  She was already married and stayed with her husband David Sessions

MARY ELIZABETH ROLLINS LIGHTNER (23 years) whom he married in February 1842 with Brigham Young officiating.  Mary was married to Adam Lightner and a faithful Mormon.  She tells how Smith approached her to persuade her to be his secret plural wife and he tells her that God had sent an angel to him, "three times between the year '34 and '42 and said I (Smith) was to obey that principle (plural marriage) or he would lay (destroy) me."  If she accepted him in a polyandrous marriage and allowed him to have sexual relations with her, her place in heaven as a goddess was assured!  She, however, stayed with Adam until his death.

SALLY ANN FULLER GATTY became his wife in the Spring of 1842.

MARTHA McBRIDE KNIGHT (37 years) a widow she became his wife in August 1842 with Heber C Kimball officiating.

SARAH KIMBALL married him on 7th July 1842 with Newel K Whitney officiating

MARTHA M KIMBALL married him in 1842 with Heber C Kimball officiating.

DELCENA JOHNSON SHERMAN (37 years) a widow whom he married in July 1842.

ELIZA ROXEY SNOW (38 years) whom he married on 29th June 1842 with Brigham Young officiating.  This is the same Eliza R Snow who wrote the lyrics to many well known Mormon hymns.  What will not be known to Mormons is that she miscarried Smith's child when she fell down a flight of stairs.  It seems that Joseph and Eliza were caught embracing upstairs by his real wife, long suffering Emma, and she became so upset she beat Eliza violently with a broom causing Eliza to fall down a flight of stairs.  Consequently she had a miscarriage.  So much for the harmony of a plural marriage household and the supposed permission needed of the first wife before the Mormon husband could take another.

SARAH ANNE WHITNEY (17 years) whom he married on 27th July 1842 with Newel K Whitney officiating.  She was single but was living with a man but came to live with Smith.  Smith promised special eternal blessing to her parents if they approved the marriage and he rebaptised both her parents.

RUTH VOSE SAYERS (33 years) married Smith in February 1843.  She was already married and stayed with her polyandrous husband, Edward Sayers, until his death.

DESDEMONA WADSWORTH FULLMER (32 years) married Smith in July 1843.

ELVIRA ANNIE COWLES HOLMES (29 years) married Smith on 1st June 1843.  She was a married woman but stayed with her polyandrous husband, Johnathan Holmes.

SARAH M KINGSLEY CLEVELAND (53 years) married Smith on 29th June 1942 but stayed with her polyandrous husband, John Cleveland until his death..

FLORA ANN WOODWORTH (16 years) in the spring of 1843.

MARIA LAWRENCE (19 years) married Smith in May 1843.

SARAH LAWRENCE (17 years) sister to above, married him in May 1843 also.

EMILY DOW PARTRIDGE (19 years) married Smith on 4th March 1843 with Heber C Kimball officiating.

ELIZA MARIA PARTRIDGE (22 years) married Smith 4 days after her sister on 8th March 1843 with Heber C Kimball officiating.

ALMERA WOODWARD JOHNSON (30 years) on 2nd April 1843 with William Clayton officiating.

OLIVE GREY FROST (27 years) married Smith on 12th April 1843.

LUCY WALKER (17 years) on 1st May 1843 with William Clayton officiating.

HELEN MAR KIMBALL in May 1843 with Heber C. Kimball officiating.  Helen was only 14 years old which, together with other under age teenagers with which he had unlawful intercourse makes Smith a paedophile - agreed?.  She was the daughter of apostle Heber C Kimball who gave her to Smith!  In return he promised the whole Kimball family great everlasting blessing in the next life.  What a pressure to put on a 14 year old girl!

HANNAH ELLIS (29 years) in the summer of 1843, she died in 1845.

RHODA RICHARDS (58 years) married Smith on 12th June 1843 with Willard Richards officiating.

MELISSA LOTT WILES (19 years) married Smith on 20th September 1843 with Hyrum Smith officiating.

FANNY YOUNG MURRAY (56 years) a widow and married Smith on 2nd November 1843 with Brigham Young officiating.

NANCY MARIA SMITH became one of the wives of Joseph Smith and later of Heber C. Kimball, according to Orson F. Whitney in "The Life of Heber C. Kimball", page 430/2.  She married Smith in 1843.

NANCY MIRIAH WINCHESTER (14 years) was born in Erie County, New York on August 10th, 1828. She was the daughter of Stephen and Nancy Case Winchester. Smith took her as one of his wives early in 1843 aged only 14 years! After Smith was shot in 1844 she (still only 16 years) was taken as wife to Heber C. Kimball (many years older than her) according to Whitney. Later the Narvoo Temple records show she was sealed to Kimball for "time" and Smith for "eternity" in January 1846.  She later divorced Kimball and married Amos Arnold.

ALMIRA BARTON married Smith in the Spring of 1843.

MARGRET MOON married him on 27th April 1843 with Heber C Kimball officiating.

MARY ANN FROST PRATT married Smith for time in May 1843 and was sealed to him for eternity in the Nauvoo temple in February 1846.

LUCY KIMBALL married him on 1st May 1843 with William Clayton officiating.

CATHERINE P SMITH married Smith in August 1843 with Hyrum Smith officiating.

MARY HUSTIN became another wife of his in 1843.

SARAH SCOTT married Smith in 1844.

OLIVE ANDREWS married Smith in 1844 for time and was sealed to him for eternity in the Nauvoo temple in January 1846.

ELIZABETH DAVIS DURFEE (50 years) married him in June 1842 for time and was sealed to him for eternity in the Nauvoo temple in January 1846.  She remained with her polyandrous husband, Jobaz Durfee but after Smith's death she separated from Durfee.

VIENNA JACQUES married him in 1844 according to the Genealogical Archives.

CORDELIA CALISTA MORLEY married him in 1844 for time and was sealed to him for eternity in the Nauvoo temple in January 1846.

JANE TIBBETS born in Gorhan, Maine on August 27th, 1804 was another of the wives of Smith whom he married at Narvoo on the 17th January 1846.  After his death she married Elam Luddington at Nauvoo. The Nauvoo Temple records show that on January 19th, 1846 she married Luddington for "time" and Smith for "eternity".

PHEBE WATROUD married Smith in 1844 for time and was sealed to him for eternity in the Nauvoo temple on 19th January 1844.

SOPHIA WOODMAN, another wife of Smith's whom he married at Narvoo on 27th January 1846, was born on August 25th, 1795 in Sanburn, New Hampshire. After his death she became the wife of Gad Yale and according to the Nauvoo Temple records was sealed to Yale for "time" and Smith for "eternity" on January 27th, 1846.

I make that 53 "wives" that Joseph Smith had by 1844 but to you and I that means he admitted to 52 adulterous relationships. However, historian Fawn Brodie counts 48 in her book, "No Man Knows My History, The Life of Joseph Smith," page 457.  It is difficult to be absolutely certain because some of his mistresses became so after the briefest of ceremonies and were not confirmed until they appeared at Nauvoo to be sealed to him.  We can be sure with reasonable certainty that Smith had at least 33 'wives'.  There is evidence to show others were his mistresses and then appeared after his death for sealing to him although whether this applies to them all we may never know.

SMITH CLAIMED JESUS WAS MARRIED and not just to one wife (well he would, wouldn't he?) but to, "Mary and Martha and others were his wives and that he begat children." (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 2 page 210 and earlier on page 82. Doubtless he invented this to make himself sound less debauched! He even went further than that and claimed he was descended from Jesus! (Vol. 4 page 248 and 322).

SPENCER W. KIMBALL, a later Mormon President said (Church News, November 12, 1977) "Only through Celestial Marriage can one find the straight way, the narrow path. Eternal life cannot be had in any other way."

HOWEVER, THE REAL JESUS SAID; "I am the way... no one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6). Who do you believe?

MORMON DOCTRINE:

This is not exhaustive but I select some important doctrines you will have to believe and defend if you became a Mormon yourself. For example Mormon doctrine is out and out racist - more later.

TEST EVERYTHING:

Joseph Smith taught his DOCTRINE OF ETERNAL PROGRESSION and many times I have taught it from the Mormon priesthood teaching manuals that:

"God himself was once as we are now and is an exalted man and sits enthroned in yonder heavens!...   I am going to tell you how God came to be God...  God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ did;...  and you have got to learn how to be Gods yourselves and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all Gods have done before you."(Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Deseret Book, pages 345-6).

Joseph Smith was very clear; there are multiple gods.  The Mormon god was once a man as we are now and gained godhood through his works.  Yet when President Hinckley was asked about this important, even fundamental Mormon doctrine he said; "I don't know that we teach it.  I don't know that we emphasize it..."  (Time, 4th August 1997, page 56).  Is the Mormon church trying to present itself as mainstream.  Certainly many new converts have never heard of this fundamental doctrine.

The Bible says that for us to be absolutely sure we are not being deceived we must test everything. One way of doing this is to compare this Mormon doctrine that YOU can become a god, with the Bible. There can only be one gospel. Jesus did not preach two or more!

Joseph Smith said God was called, "Elohim" but this is Hebrew for "God", it literally means, "The Gods El," meaning the Trinity, three Gods in one, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. When you see the word "God" in the early part of the old testament mostly read "Elohim". Smith would not have known this, of course.

Smith said the Mormon god was born through a sexual union of two physical parents on another planet. He grew up being obedient to the Mormon "laws and ordinances". There was a god over that planet who once was a man and that god had another god over him ad infinitum. There are, according to Smith, endless gods.

Yet the Bible says: "Before me no God was formed, nor will there be after me." (Isaiah 43:10). "I am the first and I am the last, apart from me there is no God. Is there any God besides me - No, there is no Rock, I know not one."(Isaiah 44:6 & 8). When God blessed Abraham He swore by Himself because He knew none greater! (Hebrews 6:13). It is impossible for God to lie. (Hebrews 6:18).

Who do you believe - God or Joseph Smith? What could be clearer than this? The Mormon doctrine is false.

Smith said Elohim died, was resurrected and judged by his god, found worthy and raised to god hood, given many righteous women as wives and sent to his celestial residence near the planet "Kolob" near the centre of our galaxy. There he and his wives created vast numbers of "spirit" children (that is without physical bodies).  It could be described as a gospel of eternal and endless sex!

Elohim wanted all his children to have physical bodies and "prove" themselves so that they could become gods like him. The head of the gods called a council in heaven to prepare a "plan of salvation" and Elohim listened to various plans, amongst these were one from the Mormon Jesus and another from his brother lucifer. (You see how this luciferian doctrine raises lucifer up to the level of Jesus?). The gods then voted, it was close but the Mormon Jesus won. This is standard Mormon doctrine and no mature Mormon will argue with it.

MORMON DOCTRINE IS RACIST:

Lucifer rebelled against the council after seeing the Mormon Jesus' plan accepted and raised to a higher position. One third of the spirit children of Elohim followed lucifer in rebellion and as a punishment were cast down to the newly created earth as demons. Another third remained neutral so when they were eventually born into physical bodies they were given a black skin so they could be recognised here on earth. Smith pointed these out as Negroes. They were forbidden to hold the Mormon priesthood and therefore excluded from helping manage the Mormon Church.

We should remember that in Smith's time and place it was unthinkable to accept a Black African as an equal. Smith claimed a black skin was in fact the "mark of Cain" in the Bible and that Negroes are the seed of Cain.

Smith taught that the final third supported the Mormon Jesus but with varying degrees of enthusiasm. He said that the lighter the skin and fairer to hair and bluer the eyes - the more valiant they had fought for the Mormon Jesus. This is classic luciferian racist doctrine. Adolf Hitler's doctrine with another name!

JOSEPH FIELDING SMITH, a later President of the Mormon Church says in his book; "The Way to Perfection" page 102: "...(Cain) became the father of an inferior race. A curse was placed upon him and that curse has been continued through his lineage and must do while time endures. Millions of souls have come into the world cursed with a black skin and have been denied the privilege of priesthood and the fulness of the blessing of the gospel." Mormon racist doctrine could not be plainer than that!

BRIGHAM YOUNG, the second Mormon prophet, said in his "Journal of Discourses", vol. 7, page 290: "...Some classes of the human family are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable and low in their habits, wild and seemingly deprived of nearly all the blessings of intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind." He also said in volume 10, page 110: "If a white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty under the law of God is death on the spot. This will always be so."

There can be no doubt whatsoever that Mormon doctrine is racist. It is a foundation of the whole Mormon gospel. I can tell you that many Mormons whom I knew would find themselves most uncomfortable with it. They, as I did, would find it hard to defend. I have never been a racist. My black brother is in no way inferior to me and this is one of the reasons I left the Mormon Church.

PRAGMATISM, PRUDENCE AND THE BLACKS:

In June 9th, 1978, shortly after I left the Mormons, President and "prophet" Spencer Kimball, announced he had received revelation from the Mormon god that the time had come to give the priesthood to Negroes.

Now this really means that the "priesthood" has been taken from the earth because Brigham Young said on February 5th, 1852 (which can be found in the L.D.S. Archives, Ms d 1234, box 488, folder 3) that if the time ever came when the Mormon Church ever conferred the priesthood on the Negroes it would be taken from the earth! He also said the curse would remain on the Negroes until all the valiant spirits had been born on earth!

One or other of these "prophets" must be wrong!

Clearly the new doctrine was political expediency. Many Brazilians have Negro blood and could therefore not manage the local Mormon Church there. (For this reason the Mormons never proselyted black Africa). Locals were clamouring for something to be done!

WAS THIS REALLY REVELATION?

Chris Vlachos from Orem, Utah, secured a meeting in 1978 with Elder LeGrand Richards, one of the "Twelve Apostles" of the Mormon Church. During this interview Richards let slip that the so called revelation given to Kimball was nothing more than pragmatism in the face of difficulty. There were the pressures from Brazil. There was pressure from human rights organisations and even the Federal Government just as there had been with plural marriage 100 years earlier. Even greater was the pressure from within the Church.

After the meeting when Richards let slip that which he should not have, Vlachos wrote to him on the 11th September 1978 asking for confirmation in writing of what Richards had said. Being an honest man he had no choice but to confirm it.

He confirms that the whole thing was provoked by the Brazilian temple, that they had great difficulty obtaining Priesthood leadership among it's South American membership. A great many blacks had contributed a great deal of money to build the temple but would not be able to use it! (Blacks were not allowed in the temple).

Richards further confirms that Kimball called in each of the Twelve Apostles individually into his office to hear their personal feelings and asked each of them to prepared some references from "scripture" for and against the proposal. Later the Twelve and the First Presidency of the Church had a special prayer circle in the Salt Lake City Temple. The next morning all the General Authorities met and were asked to support the move. It was then released to the press. When asked if the Negroes were regarded as being more valiant for Jesus in the pre mortal existence Richards said the general feeling now is that the reason was not known!

Richards confirms all these things in his reply to Vlachoa on September 12th, 1978. On the 15th September Vlachoa wrote to Richards again asking him to confirm that:

1. The whole thing was provoked by the Brazilian temple.

2. Kimball interviewed each of the Twelve to get their opinions.

3. The June 1st prayer circle was to ask the Mormon god to inspire you all to make the right decision.

4. One week after this prayer for guidance the letter that was sent to all Church officials had been voted upon by the Twelve first.

5. This official letter was the only written document involved in the policy change. There was no written revelation from the Mormon god (Joseph Smith style).

6. No new interpretation of the Book of Abraham "curse" doctrine upon the descendants of Cain will be offered. The Presidency did not know why the blacks were cursed!

7. The Church does not encourage intermarriage but will now support any that take place.

In his reply LeGrand Richards, although obviously irritated, confirms those seven points. He also says he would not like it to become generally known! (I'll bet he didn't!).

THIS IS A WORLD AWAY FROM THE "REVELATION" ANNOUNCED ON JUNE 9TH, 1978. Many tried to find out the truth. The Church had been under great pressure to do something. LeGrand Richards let it slip that it was not revelation at all but a carefully thought out pragmatic plan to solve the Brazilian problem. TRUTH ALWAYS PREVAILS!

As we have seen earlier, Brigham Young said if the Mormon priesthood was ever given to the Negroes it would be taken from the earth by their god. If they believe their leaders are prophets they do not now have any priesthood authority! Perhaps they think Young was a false prophet? It must be one or the other - agreed? Of course much of Mormon history is one "prophet" contradicting another "prophet".

Joseph F Smith, a later President of the Church and "prophet" was honest enough to admit (what we all know anyway) that he had never received revelation from anyone during the whole time of his office (Reed Smoot Hearings [1904] volume 1 pages 99 and 483/4).

YOU CAN SEE THIS NEGRO DOCTRINE IS FROM THE PIT OF HELL - it is evil. The genes of a Negro are basically no different from that of whites (apart from colour). The Mormon Church has been embarrassed by it for years. Nevertheless racism is still a fundamental part of Mormon doctrine.

MORMON TEMPLES:

These have to be experienced to be believed! It consists of various forms of satanic ritual to which the Mormons themselves seem blissfully unaware! Ask any Mormon who has been to the temple to tell you about it and he will say he is not allowed to talk about it outside the temple. He will say it is sacred (not secret). But it is secret because for it to become generally known would cause certain problems as you will shortly appreciate. It's deception would be easily exposed. However, much of this ritual has been changed in recent years and some of the curses Mormons take upon have been changed.

THIS POSSES TWO OBSERVATIONS:  If it used to be absolutely essential, as we were told, to go through the ritual exactly using exact words and symbols to gain entry to the Celestial kingdom, why is it not now essential to use those same exact words?  Secondly, how can the Mormon church claim the present ritual is valid and able to ensure present participants can gain entry into the Celestial kingdom through it?

To qualify for the Celestial Kingdom, the top Mormon heaven, one has to "take out one's endowments" in a temple. I have been "through" the temple many times and was "married for time and eternity" in there so I know what I'm talking about.

To enter the Celestial Kingdom one has to go through a ritual. I went through first in 1966 and the last time in 1976 or '77.  I was told I had to remember word for word the ritual otherwise I would not get into the Celestial Kingdom. I was also told that each part of the ritual was essential to gain entry. I was then surprised to find the ritual changed early on. Later it changed and since 1977 it has changed once or twice since! I ask myself if every part, as revealed to Joseph Smith, was so essential - Is the old version not valid now? - or - maybe this new version is the one not valid? I discuss here the 1977 version although transcripts of later versions are available.

First the candidate undresses completely and places over his head a loose poncho type garment open at either side. A temple worker ceremonially washes various members of one's body, accompanied by a singsong chant as if he has done it a millions times before with words that run into each other; "...Health in the naval, marrow in the bones, health in the loins and in the sinews..." . The process is repeated as one is anointed with oil to become a god! I was then ritually dressed in a "garment of the holy priesthood" which was basically a one piece long-john undergarment of the type worn in Smiths days and seen in many western films! I was told I should never remove it except for bathing and changing. It had various Masonic marks of the square and compass over the breasts and button holes over the naval and right knee. I was told these marks made it holy and would protect me as long as I wore it, rather like a mystical talisman. (What a pity I did not know my Bible better then and read about the true armour of God in Ephesians 6: 10-18.)

I was then given a new name, Moroni, which I was told never to reveal. I was told it was known only to God and I. I found out later all who went to the temple that day were given the same new name so all my male friends who went to the temple that day, plus all the temple workers and any official who cared to luck up the days names would know too! You see, they default to darkness automatically. This was one of the reasons I should not divulge it, we would all discover we had the same name! I was then told my wife's new name, known only to God, her and I (plus all the other women at the temple that day!).

The term to go "through" the temple refers really to the older temple where each scene was acted out by actors. In the newer temples we all moved up to an auditorium and watched everything on the cinema screen.

The film tells the story of the Mormon idea of creation where the Mormon Jesus and Adam create the world and what happened in the garden of Eden - Mormon version. There is much audience participation. I am not going to go into much detail over this because all it does is glorify the devil. It is inane and apparently vacuous (although actually not so, it is harmful). Suffice it to say that Adam and Eve have to dress up in an apron to cover their nakedness and the audience have to do the same. As the ritual unfolds the candidates are gradually dressed in robes representing the garments of the "holy priesthood", plus hat or veil. It is hard to see how these robes could be designed to make one look more ridiculous.

When the Mormon Adam calls upon God in the temple, lucifer appears!! This is a clue as to the ultimate truth of Mormonism - that the Mormon god is really lucifer, the devil.

I am told that since I left the Mormons the next part has been dropped from the ritual for reasons that will become obvious. We were told this was a crucial part of the endowment, but apparently not! Candidates are told to call upon the Mormon god by shouting; "Oh, god hear the words of my mouth." We did not say this in English but in the "pure Adamic language". We had to raise our hands above our heads and say, "pay". Then lower them to our waist and say "lay". Then lower them to our sides saying "ale". This was repeated three times.

I'm not surprised this has been dropped because before I left there was great controversy because the Hebrew translation apparently can mean either "Marvellous true God" or "Marvellous false God"! However, we found this 1970's chant had been replaced in 1929 from "Pay hale hale" or "Pay ale ale". This is vocalised "Pay Heylel" which means, "Marvellous lucifer"! Well, well. For the first 90 years of Mormonism they had been shouting this in their temples! No wonder the Mormons don't want their temple ritual talked about outside their temples!

SIGNS, TOKENS AND PENALTIES: Adam now converses with the devil before he is rescued in the nick of time by Peter, James and John who are able to confirm they are true messengers from the Mormon god by using secret hand shakes and signs. (No one, including me, seems to question how they have physical bodies thousands of years before they were born!).

There is a law to swear to, the Law of Consecration where one takes an oath agreeing to consecrate themselves, there time, talents and everything they have to the Mormon Church. Then the wives covenant to obey their husbands and he covenants to obey the "law of Elohim", in practice his priesthood leaders.

The next step at first glance seems vacuous but in fact one is taking a curse upon one's self. We must learn all these handshakes and signs and accompanying penalties for revealing them and remember them before we can enter the Celestial Kingdom.

There are four signs, tokens and penalties, some of which I cannot remember now. I am not going to go through them all because they would be familiar to any Freemason as from here is where they came. I'll just give you the flavour. As far as I can remember the first sign is raising your right arm to the square. The "token" is a handshake where to finger are placed in a certain position on the knuckles of the other hand. It has a name and I think this one was called, "The first token of the Aaron priesthood". The penalty for revealing it is having your throat cut or some nasty disease there abouts. It used to include having your tongue ripped out. These curses follow down the body to the chest and stomach for the others. They are just a variation on the same theme. Any Freemason would know them.

WARNING! If you have been through a Mormon temple and taken upon yourself these curses then the curses need to be broken. This is most important. Get in touch with a Christian who is used to moving in the Spirit to break the curse for you. I don't want to alarm you but it is serious.

THE VEIL OF THE TEMPLE is now revealed and the candidates go towards it. Marks on it correspond to the marks on the temple garment clothed in earlier but are larger (i.e., square and compass etc.) Three taps of a wooden mallet onto a timber frame of the veil reveals the hand of a veil worker from the other side who represents the Mormon god. He tests you on all the signs, tokens and penalties just learned. There is a helper if you cannot remember. This is the way into the Celestial Kingdom. On the real day you will need to remember it all.

The "five points of fellowship" assumed with the veil worker through the veil are identical, I am told, to that of Freemasonry. In this absurd position the candidate must chant, "Health in the naval, marrow in the bones, strength in the loins and in the sinews, power to the priesthood..." and so it goes on! Once through the veil into the "Celestial Kingdom" any marriage ceremony takes place.

This is classic occult incantation used in witchcraft and satan worship. Mormonism is steeped in it. The luciferian priesthood has been called down and curses placed on the candidates. The satanic Pentagram was in the Nauvoo temple and is in the Salt Lake City temple. Masonic symbols are everywhere. Mormon temples reveal Mormonism comes from the pit of hell. "Let those who have an ear, let them hear!"

FALSE PROPHECIES:

What is a false prophet? It is someone who makes a prophecy in the name of the Lord - if it comes true they are a prophet - if it doesn't come true they are a false prophet - agreed?

The real Jesus said; "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruits you will recognise them." (Matthew 7:15). As a messenger from God, the primary fruit of a prophet is prophecy - agreed?

If just one prophecy made by a person does not come true then he is a false prophet. Just one. Joseph Smith Jnr made 64 recorded prophecies. 58 of them did not come true! This means he is a false prophet - agreed?  Therefore do not be afraid of him or his fruits.

One day I may record all of these on this web site but for now it is more important I get this study uploaded onto the site. Therefore I will select just a few to perhaps encourage you to do your own research if you are a Mormon or thinking of joining them.

Smith prophesied his son, Joseph would be his successor as president of the Church. ("Church News", page 5, March 21st, 1981) It was made and recorded in 1844. After his death a splinter group broke away and Joseph III lead that but not the main Church, that was Brigham Young.

Smith prophesied in 1833 that, "not many years shall pass away" before the USA would be the "scene of great bloodshed, pestilence, hail, famine, earthquake, (and) will sweep the wicked... off the face of this land..." ("History of the Church", vol 1. page 315). It never happened.

Smith prophesied, "...The coming of the Lord is nigh - even 56 years should wind up the scene." ("History of the Church", vol 2, page 182.) 165 years later we are still waiting.

Smith prophesied, "...In a few years the government will be utterly over thrown and wasted and there will not be so much as a potsherd left..." Later he confirmed; "...They shall be broken up as a government and God shall damn them and there shall be nothing left of them - not even a grease spot." ("History of the Church, vol 5, page 394 and vol 22, page 455.). 165 years later the US government seems all right to me! Indeed I know that in the 1970s they had a budget of one trillion dollars - considerably more than a grease spot!

Smith prophesied that David W. Patten would, "Go over the great waters and there promulgate my gospel." That he and others would leave Far West on April 26th, 1839. (Doctrine and Covenants, 114:1 April 17th, 1838 and 118: 4-5, July 8th, 1838. Patten never went - he died three months later!

Smith prophesied in 1832 that the Mormons would return to Independence, Missouri and build a temple and be, "Dedicated by the hand of Joseph Smith Jnr". (This is supposed to be Jesus speaking). "For verily this generation shall not pass away until an house shall be built unto the Lord." 172 years later it is still not built!

Smith introduced the "United Order of Enoch" whereby members turned over all they possessed to the Church and lived communally - it failed miserably!

Smith prophesied at Kirtland that, "Not three days shall pass away before some should see the Saviour." No one did! ("No Man Knows My History", Page 111 quoting Ezra Booth.)

Smith prophesied the outbreak of the American Civil War but this is not all that it seems. Firstly the prophecy was made in 1832 when he prophesied that the rebellion of South Carolina but this had already taken place. Secondly, newspapers and magazines of the time were full of such prophecies about a civil war but they, like Smith, were wrong as the civil war did not occur until many years later. He said Great Britain and other nations would become involved which did not happen. He also said that through the civil war, "...War shall be poured out upon all nations." It wasn't! (D&C 87:3).

Smith prophesied that Mormons would not be moved from Missouri but they were! (D&C 90:37).

Smith told Oliver B. Huntington in a well known prophecy that men lived on the moon, were about 6 feet tall, dressed like Quakers and lived to be 1,000 years old. (Einer Anderson, Inside Story of Mormonism, page 97-98). How did they get up there? Well, it seems Smith said they lived on land that is now the Pacific Ocean and it broke away from the earth and formed the moon taking away Enoch and friends. This of course is quite ridiculous and proved to be so.

Not to be out done Brigham Young said men lived on the sun! (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 13, page 271). "...So it is with regard to the inhabitants of the sun. do you think it is inhabited? I rather think it is. Do you think there is any life there? No question of it; it was not made in vain."

Brigham Young could really get carried away. He even said he would become President of the United States! (Journal of Discourses, vol 5. page 219). I think they got so carried away they believed it themselves!

These Alice in Wonderland prophecies need to be answered by the Mormon Church. Here is proof that Smith and Young were false prophets!

BRIGHAM YOUNG said in his Journal of Discourses, vol. 13, page 78; "I have never yet preached a sermon and sent it out to the children of men that they may not call scripture."(!) Scripture is from God. Young said men lived on the sun and moon! God, and now us, know this is rubbish! Do you really think Young's sermons are scripture?

How can we know when a message is not spoken by the Lord? Deuteronomy 18:22 tells us; "If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him."

We have clearly established that Smith and Young were false prophets. Do not be afraid of them. When I was a Mormon and investigating these things I finally admitted that Smith and others were false prophets. I had devoted many years to their bad fruits. Now I knew I did not have to be afraid of them and their doctrines. Read Deuteronomy 13:1-3, Jeremiah 23:25-32, and Matthew 7 and 24. These are warnings against deceivers. Don't let your pride stop you admitting you have been deceived - many people have, including me.

THE BOOK OF ABRAHAM:

This is another Mormon book of "scripture". In 1835 M. H. Chandler sold Smith an Egyptian Papyri having heard of his supposed ability to translate ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. Smith "translated" part of this into the present "Book of Abraham". He published it in 1842. In Smith's day there was little knowledge about Egyptian hieroglyphics so his abilities could not be measured. The discovery of the Rosseta Stone in 1799 unlocked doors but only a few scholars knew anything about it then.

This papyri was thought to have been destroyed in the Chicago fire of 1871. On November 27th, 1967 the papyri was re discovered and there is no doubt it is the same one as Smith's own markings verify.

Oh, what a shame for the Mormon Church!  This is absolute positive proof Joseph Smith was a fraud!

Experts have translated it correctly. It is "The Book of Breathings", part of the so called, "Book of the Dead". IT IS AN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN WRITTEN BURIAL CEREMONY AND BEARS NO RELATIONSHIP WHATSOEVER TO THE "BOOK OF ABRAHAM".

Again we can see that Joseph Smith was a fraud. Check it for yourself. Don't take my word for it. An example of the Papyri's hieroglyphics used to be at the start of this book but I remember it was removed.

CHINESE TEA BOX PLATES:.

Most Mormons won't know about these plates but rest assured, Joseph himself testifies to his untruthfulness!

In 1843 six metal plates were brought to him by men, one of whom claimed he had had a dream in which he was told where these plates were buried.  They dug them out of the ground in the presence of a Mormon elder.  Smith writes in his diary;
"Monday, May 1.  I insert fac-similes of the six brass plates found near Kinderhook... I have translated a portion of them, and find they contain the history of the person with which they were found.  He was a descendant of Ham, through the loins of Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and that he received his kingdom from the Ruler of heaven and earth." (Joseph Smith Jr. "Documentary History of the Church", V, p372.)

Apostle Pratt had prophesied that more revelation would come from the ground, as had the golden plates and Mormonites were overjoyed.  Then Joseph was killed and the Mormon Church waited 40 years before publishing Smith's translation.  Finally the now ageing men told of their deception, that they had engraved them in a blacksmith's shop with acid and used as a model for the hieroglyphics the characters on the lid of a Chinese tea box!  They had 'aged' the plates with rust.  Of course the Mormon Church claimed the men were not telling the truth - then many years later one of the plates were produced and modern scientists were able to establish that it's composition and construction are compatible with the theory that it was forged in a blacksmith's shop in the Midwest in 1840.  They confirm the inscriptions were made with acid and are the Chinese Lo language and nothing to do with a pharaoh of Egypt!  The hieroglyphs were as bogus as those of the Book of Abraham.

HOW DID JOSEPH SMITH JNR. DIE?

According to the Mormon Church he was "martyred". They say he sealed his testimony with his blood; "Like a lamb to the slaughter", it was put to me. A favourite Mormon hymn says he, "...Ascended to heaven", implying he was like the real Jesus, in a cloud and freely giving up his own life. His very last words were a call to God shouting allowed, "Oh, Lord my God". The truth of course, is again quite different:

To understand one of the reasons why he was killed we must realise he and most of the early Mormon Church leaders were Freemasons. Indeed there was a Nauvoo lodge. Smith became a Master Mason and impressed by the Masonic ritual he announced he had received revelation concerning the ancient temple at Jerusalem and what had gone on inside there. Any Bible student will tell you it was for the offering of gifts according to law, performed by the Levitical or Aaronic priesthood. Smith introduced a new temple ceremony as described earlier but this was based on the Freemason's ritual and he based his priesthood on the degrees of the Freemasons. Each Mormon male progresses through the degrees of the priesthood and an Elder is roughly equivalent to Master Mason and so is the temple ritual.

Firstly, as a Freemason he was sworn to secrecy, as we have discussed earlier, not to reveal their secret signs etc. - but he did, to other Mormons in his new temple ceremony. For this he was expelled from the Freemasons together with his brethren and the Nauvoo lodge was closed down. As he had revealed these things there was a death penalty to pay. I was always told that as a Mormon, I should not become a Freemason. I wonder why? Could it be that I would have discovered where the temple ceremony really came from!

The second thing we must bear in mind about Smith's death was that he certainly had 27 "celestial wives" and others counted them as 48, as I have mentioned. He was always on the lookout for more. As you can imagine great ill feeling had built up between Smith and the husbands of his celestial wives, or to you and me, his adulterous relationships. They did not like him taking their wives from them from time to time! Therefore many angry husbands had had quite enough and had sworn to kill him.

Thirdly, many of his close followers realised that Smith had strayed from the "truth". The "straight and narrow" way. His doctrines were now contradicting his earlier ones. The temple and celestial marriage were the last straw for many and they wanted him out of the way. The scene was set for his death:

AUSTIN COWLES, Smith's "First Counsellor" and therefore the second most senior figure in the Mormon Church and William Law, his "Second Counsellor", the third most important figure, who formed the triune "First Presidency", published charges against Smith of heresy, adultery and fornication in the "Nauvoo Expositor" dated June 7th, 1844:

The article exposed much of his adulterous activities together with his doctrinal errors. They told of how he regularly drank alcohol and smoked large cigars, in spite of his "Word of Wisdom revelation" telling his follows not to do these very things he did.

When he found out about this Smith broke into the newspaper offices that night for fear his followers would find out about him. He destroyed the printing press and smashed up the offices!

He clearly thought no one would use the law against him but he was wrong. The nearest community to Nauvoo not to have Mormon officials was Carthage, Illinous and charges were filed against Smith here. Smith then fled and hid but his true, and long suffering wife Emma found him and persuaded him to return having had an assurance he would not be prosecuted. He returned after 20 days with his body guard, Porter Rockwell on June 27th, 1844. As soon as he returned he was arrested and placed in Carthage jail for the night on the second floor.

His brother Hyrum, was with him and the jail had been mysteriously left unlocked. His militia retired to their own homes for the night some way away.. Later a mob began to form when people heard that Smith was in the jail. They began to shout Masonic charges against him. Masons had stalked him for years. They were sworn to kill him for not respecting their secret signs.

Insults were shouted about his adulterous and other activities. Pent up feelings over many years began to be released against him particularly from Mormon husbands who had had enough of Smith using their wives.

Some of the mob, Mormons and others, entered the jail and began to climb the narrow stairway to the second floor (this would be what we call our first floor in Britain). As they did Smith discharged his pistol into their midst killing two and wounding a third. Further shots were exchanged and he ran back into the cell as they followed him. His brother Hyrum was shot dead in the cell.

Joseph could either face the mob and be shot down for sure or try leaping from the window one floor up from the ground. Outside were many Freemasons. He leapt onto the window and shouting in a loud voice, "Oh, Lord my God." He was shot by a hail of gunfire and dropped to the ground.

Mormons make great play on this - the last cry from a God fearing prophet and martyr but as usual, not all is what it seems. "Oh, Lord my God", four words that were the local Freemason's cry of distress. When a Freemason heard this he had to come to the rescue of the distressed brother. It was clearly a last ditch attempt to stop the Freemasons outside from killing him but instead it produced a hail of gunfire from who knows who?

Even to the last he was controversial. He was not wearing his temple garment, he rarely did apparently, and the Mormon Church used to say that if he had have been he would not have been killed. I even heard one "Apostle" Mark Petersen say that Smith took it off knowing he would be killed so that the world would not see it as it was sacred!

MORE FRUITS OF MORMONISM AND 9/11.

No not September 11th 2001 but 144 years earlier on September 11th 1857 when the Mountain Meadows Massacre took place.  This was the massacre in cold blood of 120 non Mormon men, women and children by Mormons and Indians, it is believed on the orders of Brigham Young (of people living on the sun and moon fame!).  We look here at these fruits of Mormonism and what happened.  This harrowing story will not be told by Mormons (mainly because the ordinary Mormon doesn't know!):

THE FANCHER WAGON TRAIN was led by Alexander Fancher aged 45 and John T Baker aged 52.  It was made up of mainly farm families looking to make new homes in California.  They were from north west Arkansas and Missouri.  Of the 135 company it numbered at least 15 women, mostly young mothers.  Half of the company, approximately 60, were young dependent children.  More than 20 of these were girls aged between 7 and 18 years.  The rest were adult males, many husbands and fathers of the women and children, plus some teamsters and other hired hands.  The wagon train was quite wealthy having up to 1000 head of cattle plus work oxen, horses, mules and other animals.  They were well off in other ways too having their worldly wealth with them.  They had, of course, many highly prized household items with them which were not easily obtained in the west.  John W Baker, John T Baker's son, estimated his father's personal wealth taken on the wagon train at "the full sum of $10,000" (a very large sum indeed in those days).  There were some 30 or 40 wagons and equipment and large amounts of cash. [Based on information in "Forgotten Kingdom, The Mormon Theocracy in the American West, 1847-1896", by David Bigler, Utah State University Press, 1998, p 159-160].

They were travelling at a rate of 7 miles per day at first until they had a troublesome meeting with a Mormon Apostle and some Indians on the 25th August.  This made them fearful having heard of the fire power of the Mormons and their influence over the Indians.  In a bid to get away from the area they increased their speed to about 12 miles per day.  What was the problem?  Why should they be frightened?  Surely the Mormons, who had experienced such hardship themselves in their migration to the Salt Lake, would not deny others free passage to California over land the Mormons did not own in the first place.  Where was their Christian love?

COLD-BLOODED PLOT TO SLAUGHTER ALL MEN WOMEN AND CHILDREN:  Whilst the wagon train hurried, as best a wagon train can, to get away from the Mormons, the newly appointed Santa Clara Indian Mission President Jacob Hamblin, 12 Indian Chiefs and leaders of desert bands along the Santa Clara and Virgin rivers met with the Mormon prophet Brigham Young and his most trusted interpreter, Dimick B Huntington (49) at Salt Lake. Brigham Young, through his interpreter, told the Indian chiefs that he, "gave them all the cattle that had gone to California by the south route."  The gift, "made them open their eyes".  The indians replied, "But you have told us not to steal."  Huntington volunteered, "So I have, but now they have come to fight us and you, for when they kill us they kill you."  The cattle they were being given was, of course, the cattle belonging to the Baker-Fancher wagon train!

John D Lee, the polygamous husband of 19 wives, was ordered, on the 7th September, by Elder Isaac Haight, the local Stake President and Lieutenant Colonel of the Iron County Mormon Battalion to a meeting where they discussed the orders of Brigham Young, which took place at Cedar City, southern Utah.  He was ordered to lead the pillage and attack on the wagon train and Haight telling him Brigham Young had ordered the destruction of it.  They agreed to stir up the Indians and encourage them to attack and rob them of the cattle and goods.  On his way home, John D Lee came upon a large band of Indians in war paint, ready for the kill.  They were led by two chiefs, Moquetas and Big Bill.  They told Lee that Haight had told them to attack and kill them all but Lee told them to wait until he brought further indians and Mormons to help.  Lee told the Indians to go camp near by and wait for him but they did not and attacked the wagon train.  However, they were not strong enough and were beaten off.

THE SLAUGHTER ATTEMPT:  On 11th September 1857, 53 Mormon leaders, including John D Lee, lead 400 Indians in an attack on the wagon train at Mountain Meadows.  According to eyewitness accounts quoted by Thelma Geer, great granddaughter of John D Lee, their was a hard fought battle and bloody gun battle and the emigrants put up a valiant fight.  Desperately and bravely they defended themselves for 5 long, fearful days and horrifying nights against the marauding Mormons and Indians.  One can only imagine what it must have been like, especially for the young mothers and young children.  Clearly the Mormon elders were getting nowhere and after five days they withdrew and held a church council during which they formulated a devious plan.

THE WHITE FLAG OF TRUCE:  John D Lee and William Bateman approached the wagon train under a white flag of truce and convinced the people that their only chance to avoid the Indians was for them to give up their weapons and allow themselves to be escorted to safety to Cedar City by the Mormon elders.  They agreed, making the grave mistake of trusting the Mormons.  They then fell into line to process to Cedar City in the order they had been told.  The first wagon carried children under 6 years (the Mormons were going to spare them) driven by Samuel McCurdy.  The second wagon was driven by Samuel Knight and carried two or three wounded men and a women.  Behind these, and separated from there men folk, marched the women and the rest of the children.  Behind them followed the unarmed men, perhaps a quarter of a mile back.  They marched in a single line, each with an armed Mormon elder along side him.

THE FRUITS OF MORMONISM - THE SLAUGHTER:  When they reached the area known as Mountain Meadows and without warning the front wagons stopped and elder Higbee at the rear flank of the male emigrants and on horseback, halted and shouted a prearranged order, "Do your duty!"  On that command each Mormon shot or knifed the single unarmed emigrant he was escorting.  The women and children ahead began screaming with horror.  This was the cue for the Indians who were hiding in the brush to rise up and slaughter the defenceless women and children.  Some Mormons were dressed up as Indians and with them to lead the attack although they claimed themselves that they did not kill the women and children as they would have been guilty of shedding innocent blood!  The wounded people in the wagon from the earlier attack were executed at point blank range, including the woman.  The whole massacre lasted no more than minutes.  In that time 50 men, 20 (some reports say 27) women and 50 children between the ages of 7 and 18 were slaughtered. Their bodies were left exposed over night and the next day Lee, Haight and other local church leaders returned and dumped the bodies in a shallow ditch and cover them up.

WHY?  Many Mormons took an oath in the temple to avenge the killing of Joseph Smith and they suspected some of his murderers were with the wagon train. There was no proof of this but it was offered as a reason by the Mormons.  The others would be guilty by association.  The Mormon church claimed all 7 years and upwards were guilty of Smith's murder, (Mormons are baptised for the remission of sins at 8 years). So 50 men, 20 women, mainly young mothers, and children between the age of 7 and 18 had to be slaughtered to avenge the death of Smith.  The only survivors were 17 children and infants under the age of 7 (some of whom had been wounded by gunfire) because Mormon doctrine said their blood was innocent.  The real reason those children under 7 years were spared was they were considered too young to be a witness to the murders.

THE PLUNDER:  The terrified children under 7 years were considered free from guilt and taken to Cedar City and some were placed with Mormon families.  They were finally sent back to families in Arkansas 2 years later after federal agent Jacob Forney had located them.  The Mormon church even billed the US government for boarding and schooling the children whilst with them!  The property was divided up between Mormon families during an auction and the Indians.  Nothing was discarded.  Even the bodies were stripped of clothing and washed, stripping off pieces of human flesh attached to the clothing with dried blood.

BRIGHAM YOUNG:  On 25th May 1861 Brigham Young ( known as "Brigham the Boss") visited the site of the slaughter at Mountain Meadows with a party of elders, including apostle and future church president, Wilford Woodruff who said in his diary that a 12 feet high pile of stones had been erected over the mass grave of these victims.  A wooden cross had been placed on top with the words; "Vengeance is mine and I will repay saith the Lord."  Woodruff heard Young say, "It should be vengeance is mine and I have taken a little."  David Bigler writes that one of Young's escorts lassoed the cross and turned his horse and pulled it down.  (Mormons find the cross offensive along with all the kingdom of darkness).  Then, according to Dudley Leavitt, Young raised his arm to the square (a temple sign) but spoke no words but they knew what he meant.  In 5 minutes the pile of stones had been flattened to the ground, "not one stone left on another."  The final injustice - no marked mass grave!

THE SCAPEGOAT:  In 1875 John D Lee was scapegoated and tried at Beaver, Utah and found guilty by an all Mormon jury for the murders.  On 23rd March 1877 he was taken to Mountain Meadows where he was perched on the side of his coffin and delivered his final testimony.  He was the scapegoat and there had been a massive cover up to protect others, including Brigham Young.  According to Thelma Geer, Lee's great-granddaughter, his 19 wives and 64 children were "unsealed" from  him as he had been excommunicated and therefore they would have had no Mormon elder husband to call them from the grave.  They were urged to find new husbands.  Lee, in his closing testimony expressed great sorrow for leaving his wives and children behind to fend for themselves.  He also said that he did not believe everything now taught and practiced by Brigham Young.  He also said; "I believe he is leading the people astray, downward to destruction.....  I have studied to make this man's (Brigham Young) will my pleasure for thirty years.  See now, what I have come to this day.  I have been sacrificed in a cowardly manner...."  After a short prayer delivered by the prison chaplin, Methodist minister George Stokes, the final "fire!" rang out and Lee fell backwards into his coffin, dead.  Some have said that Mr Stokes, a Christian, had lead Lee to the real Jesus and he had received Him as his personal Saviour before his execution.  Let us hope so.

It is Mormon doctrine that King David has lost his Mormon version of salvation because he sent Uriah the Hitite to his death (2 Samuel 11:15).  Using the same Mormon doctrine, will this not surely mean Brigam Young has lost his Mormon salvation too?  However, in true spirit of the Mormon flexible doctrines John D Lee was reinstated 83 years after his execution on the 20th April 1961.  On the 8th and 9th of May his descendents stood proxy in the temple whilst all his former blessing were restored, together with the resealing of his wives and children and unsealing for their subsequent marriages after Lees death - well, that's alright then!

TRUTH:  Jesus said; "By their fruits you will know them."

SUMMARY:

How I managed to get away from the Mormon Church is really another subject. I may include it on this web site one day. It was sad to leave behind so many good people because Mormons themselves are not the enemy, just Mormonism. The people I knew would be just as horrified as I was if they knew what is written in this study. Few will read it because they do not want to be disloyal to Mormonism and so will end up in hell when they die. It is only by knowing the real Jesus are we saved. I may as well call my next door neighbour Jesus and do what he says for all the good the Mormon Jesus would do me.

Mormonism is the wolf in sheep's clothing. Mormonism is built on Joseph Smith's integrity or lack of it. There is no middle road. As we have seen he was a fraud. There can be no doubt about that - there is too much evidence proving it.

There is proof that he was tried and found guilty of being a disorderly person. He was an occultist, involved in divination. He could not possible have been handed the golden plates. He admitted they did not exist. He lied about the first vision and the revival in his area.

The so called, "reformed Egyptian" language of the golden plates in nonsense. No archaeological evidence supports the Book of Mormon. The text cannot stand close examination and the Mormon god cannot spell. It is plagiarism. Many leaders doubt it's authenticity. The witnesses lied and many left the Church. The Book of Mormon does not agree with Mormon doctrine!

Smith admitted 32 adulterous affairs and was probably more like 52. Brigham Young is estimated to have had far more. Mormons believe you can become a god and do not believe in the "virgin birth". Their doctrine is racist and similar to the Nazis. The "revelation" of Kimball was really political pragmatism. The Mormon temple ritual is really satan worship. Smith was a false prophet. "The Book of Abraham" is proved to be a fraud and pure fiction. Joseph Smith's sad end was in a gunfight with angry husbands and angry Freemasons.

THE JOY OF MARGARET MARSHALL:

After many years of struggle Margaret found the real Jesus and left the Mormon Church.  She wrote to me some time ago saying;

" I just thought I'd share with you this song that came to me whilst strumming the guitar:

A SONG OF TESTIMONY.

For many years I did look for Him
Many roads I trod
Going round in circles
Searching for God

I listened to some people
They said they had found the way
They called me to come and follow
And know the truth today

They told me about a prophet
Who had lived some time ago
This man they said had been chosen
To restore the true gospel of God

For quite a time I did follow
Trusting the words of this man
Believing his revelations
The Mormon road, I ran

Then one day I heard a voice say
"Dear child you're being deceived
There's only one way you'll find me
Take the road down by Calvary"

I asked This Voice to tell me
"What happened at Calvary?"
Unto me He gave a vision
Of the Christ Who died for me

I saw a cross standing on a hillside
Jesus was hanging there
A crown of thorns was on His head
So much pain He was called to bear

This Voice then whispered so clearly
"Precious child follow this way
For Jesus gave himself so freely
His blood is sufficient today"

Now I know the true and living God
He has been shown to me
Not through a religious system
But through Jesus, He's living in me

Yes, Jesus is now my Saviour
From bondage He set me free
Now by faith I have entered
Into God's Royal Family

M.  Marshall  "

I say this to all Mormons:  You will only know what a pathetic imitation the counterfeit Mormon Jesus is when you experience the joy of the real Jesus.  Until that moment comes you will carry on saying you have the truth.

CONCLUSION:

Mormonism is false, it is a lie. Do not get trapped in it because once in, it will make you afraid to leave. If you are already a member get out now. Don't just stop going but have your name taken off the records to break the evil spirit link.

Can you afford to trust the Mormon church with your salvation?  If you are not saved by the real Jesus you will not be with the real Jesus when you die.

The real Jesus loves you and is waiting for you to ask him into your life.  No ritual is needed.  Jesus gave you the gift of eternal life - He offers you salvation.  All you have to do is accept this gift from Him.  Pray this, or a similar prayer with a sincere heart:

"Father in Heaven, I confess I have done things wrong and I know I am separated from You.  I ask You to forgive me.  I now believe Jesus died on the cross in my place and that I am forgiven.  I believe You raised Jesus from the dead and He is alive today.  I invite You Lord Jesus to come into my life now and I give You my life and ask You to help me live it in a way You desire.  Amen."

Now you need to tell someone, but you can't get away with just telling the cat!  It is most important and is known as confessing the name of Jesus - showing you are not ashamed of Him.  Fellowship with other Christians.  Ask them to pray for you to receive the Holy Spirit and get baptised by immersion as an outward witness to the world that you died and were resurrected with Jesus.

SAMPLE LETTER for having your name taken of the records of the Mormon Church. You cannot request this for someone else. Write to your local ward or branch:

Dear Bishop (or Branch President)

This letter is to ask you to remove my name from the records of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as I now believe your Church to be false. I expect this to be carried out within the next four weeks. I will not be attending any "court" which would have no authority from the real Jesus.

My reasons are as follows: (List any reason you want to give but this is optional. Your demand to be removed from the records is enough).

Please inform me when my excommunication has taken place and confirm to me that it was carried out at my request.

I pray the Lord will bless you and that one day you will find the truth, that there is only one way to God, through the real Jesus.

Yours in Jesus name.

Etc.

(If you are not a Christian I suggest you just sign "Yours faithfully...")

It is unlikely they will respond to your first letter so write again:

Further to my letter dated ......... in which I informed you of my desire to be excommunicated. I have not received a reply. I wish this to take place by................. Please reply to this letter by return of post.

Yours etc.

If you are a Mormon and are still not convinced and you have read this far, please remember, I am not your enemy, it is the facts that are!  Seek them out for yourself - don't take my word for it!

Finally,I have had many emails from men, many young, as a result of the extremely personal sexual questions bishops and stake presidents ask in the interview for a temple recommend. This places you under condemnation. Be assured that such questions are out of place. For a man to place himself between you and Jesus is spiritual adultery, it is the Harlot Church of Revelation 17 and 18. The Mormon Church controls you by keeping you “sin conscious” but a true born again follower of Jesus is “righteousness conscious”. 1 John 1: 9 applies here, not the temple recommend interview!

I have lost count of the emails I have received from Mormons, ex-Mormons, would-be-Mormons and anxious friends and relations.  Some of them are very moving, many scared to death of leaving yet desperate to get out of the cult.  I have included some of them which you can read by clicking here.

Remember, if you are not a Mormon and want to witness to them the truth of the real Jesus - do it with love!  One Example of how NOT to witness to Mormons: I heard on the news that a local pastor somewhere in the West Midlands of England has been taken to court by the Mormon Church to stop him standing outside the local Mormon church and "shouting" at the people going inside.  This is not the way to witness to Mormons - he may think he is doing what the Holy Spirit is telling him to do but he is listening to the wrong voice!  WE HAVE TO WITNESS TO THEM WITH LOVE.  If you witness to them like this, all you will be doing is confirming to them that they are, "the only true church".   Mormons have a persecution complex which confirms to them their "truth".  It will be totally counter productive.  In any case to stand outside any premises and shout at people for whatever reason is not the Christian way - LOVE IS THE ONLY WAY.

The Lord bless you as you search for truth.
